Why can these men demand that a woman carry a pregnancy against her will? Doesn't a woman have any rights? How can they use a religious rationale to do what amounts to assaulting a woman in a so called civil society?
I'm sick of the other side throwing sand in everybody's eyes. The fetus is not the issue. That's obvious from the way "Christians" often treat unwanted children once they are out of the womb, not to mention their hearty approval of executions and certain wars which kill many of God's children.
It's the right of a pregnant woman to be safe and healthy and get good medical care. The fetus, until it can have a social security number of its own, does not exist as an issue.
Must pregnant women be forced to obey the will of the state and carry (her rapist's zygote) against her will? Many "Christians" are happy to say yes, (they're not pregnant by a rapist) and many politicians who feed off this zealotry are happy to move the outrage forward.
Please counter this rhetoric by asking what rights the woman has in these (or any) cases. Should she be sent to prison for murder along with the doctor who cares for her?
I have found these people have not thought ahead to anything other than the slogans they are taught in church. And they don't really care about civil rights at all. Not even for the baby.
It's just slogans they have memorized.

(8,020 posts)... as good Xians.. to stand firm on the NO abortion platform.
No exceptions for rape, incest, to save the life of the mother... NO exceptions.
Let's let them run on that bullshit.
Encourage them, and then ask... "What about the 12 year old raped by that big black scary guy?"
Racism can help us in this case.
After all, which of those people doesn't think all big black guys are scary?
And their darling daughters..?

(199 posts)re the "sanctity of life" is trumped by the higher moral principle of a woman's right to her own choices.
