(5,252 posts)...around like a dressage horse touting himself as a successful businessman. Obama was quick to correct him by stating that he's made good investments.
Very subtle dig. I caught it.
Stockman had an Epiphany during the Bush years and has moved toward the center.

(229 posts)In an interview, it's reported that President Obama called Romney a bullshitter...
And now a Reaganite is doing the same thing, but on Willard's claim to fame, 'business'.

(17,064 posts)An engineer designs a car. Trained fabricators and factory workers build a car. A mechanic diagnoses and repairs a malfunctioning car. A chop-shop dismantles perfectly fine operating cars, sells off the valuble parts, scraps the hulk for the scrap metal. It takes no skill. That is Romney.

(14,881 posts)and provide the up front money it takes to do those things, plus get the car from the factory floor to the dealer's lot.
Chop-shop is an excellent analogy!

(28,552 posts)... that 99% of Americans have no understanding whatsoever of the methods and activities of Private Equity.
And, since what they do is somewhat complicated and even abstract in a way, it is easy to spin it so that dummies don't know the difference.
It would be nice if we lived in a country where everyone took their responsibilities as an informed citizen seriously, but I don't see that on the horizon.

(998 posts)Usury is the practice of making loans or exploiting situations with the goal of extracting excessive or abusive interest rates. The term may be used in a moral sense condemning taking advantage of others' misfortunes. Some of the earliest known condemnations of usury come from the Vedic texts of India. Similar condemnations are found in religious texts from Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Interesting how Romney, icon of the Christian right and one of the highest mucky muck of the Mormon church, has gotten away from being identified with what historically ben regard as an egregious practice.
