(19,460 posts)Two-spirited people is an umberella term used now by several tribes. The actual word is Berdache which loosely means having the spirit of both male and female. It is a nice quote and while it is made up, you can find similar quotes in several books by Native Americans.

Nope, I answer, that's not factually correct. The Native Americans had gay marriage for centuries before Europeans STOPPED the practice in this country.
There are a ton of scholarly research articles on this if you google it.
