How the hell can this be right? With all the anti-women shit that has been coming out and he has closed a 16-point gap? Shouldn't he be way ahead then? Don't get it.

(1,456 posts)Don't believe that bullshit. The President still has womens support. Go on the street and ask women who they will vote for, THAT is a much better indication than fox light.

(12,769 posts)the article wasn't all bad news.
As the election nears, Romney has been playing down social issues and trying to project a more moderate stance on matters such as abortion in an effort to court female voters. The AP-GfK poll, taken Friday through Tuesday, shows Romney pulling even with Obama among women at 47-47 after lagging by 16 points a month earlier.
But now his campaign is grappling with the fallout from a comment by a Romney-endorsed Senate candidate in Indiana, who said that when a woman becomes pregnant during a rape "that's something God intended."

Just more bullshit to keep this race tight and exciting for the media and their ratings/money.

(22,336 posts)We will hear, over and over again, as results come in and Obama wins more and more states, and we hear the exit poll information, how big of a gender gap there was and how much of a difference it made. The "likely voter" polls can be skewed however people want. They are frequently skewed to include more white men, because pollers mistakenly think white men are more likely to vote.

(6,012 posts)Regardless of whom you may support, who do you trust to do a better job of making the right decisions on womens issues: Obama 56% Romney 34%
There are no other gender related breakdowns in the data reported.

(59,504 posts)Outliers happen. The confidence interval usually used is a 95% confidence interval. This means that 5% of the observations will be outside that interval. This is very likely one of the 2.5% of all polls that is outside that interval on the pro Romney side.
Now, it could be that this is the first of a very drastic shift - but what could the cause be? The Republicans are pushing that Obama's joke in the debate (bayonets and horses) was disrespectful of Romney. (This creates a disorientation in my head - ie Romney being rude to the moderator and to the President of the US shows strength; Obama remaining polite but using humor (and logic) to counter a Romney position is rude to Romney. )
Could it be millions of attack ads? But, this is something that we have had all year.
At this point, I bet that it is an outlier.
