Voters need to hear in the next few days how Republicans in the House blocked most of Obama's job bills which will have created millions of more jobs in construction, infrastracture maintaining/building in addition to hiring more teachersn firemen , and police. They blocked them so that they can turn around say how bad things are.

(25,253 posts)I ran into a lady yesterday that early voted here in Chicago for Rmoney. She said that she voted for Obama last time but not again because he didn't do anything to help the economy in these 4yrs. She said her son lost his business - some sort of store and blamed that on Obama. As much as I indicated to her that this economy was a result of 8 yrs of Bush and that the Repugs blocked most everything that Obama wanted to do to fix the situation - she wouldn't buy it.
She is buying the Rmoney/Ryan theme of nothing was accomplished in the last 4 years. That theme seems to be resonating in many Dem's. I'm worried about that.
Now if it was stressed throughout the whole campaign that the Repugs blocked most Obama job bills - maybe we could have saved this vote. Just starting now - in the waning days before the election - we've lost a lot of people to early voting which a lot of people are taking advantage of this year.
Now I'm not saying we shouldn't say this in these last days. It should be stressed right up to the election day a.m. so we don't lose any more votes.

(155 posts)the main argument of the Obama campaign. I know at one time it was reported they were considering running 'against Congress'. But I guess they decided against it, which I think was a bad idea.
Im sure they were thinking that the Reps would counter with, 'the POTUS is not taking responsibility and trying to blame others'. I say that argument wouldn't stick. All Obama had to do was plaster the fillibuster count on every TV in America, and I think that would kill the GOP's 'not taking responsibility' argument.
Because he didn't run against Congress, the GOP now makes statements saying Obama had 2 yrs where he could have did anything he wanted. But in reality he only had about 2 months of a filibuster proof Senate. But many people actually forget that, and think Obama actually had 2 yrs where he could have gotten anything done.
You have to give it to the RW spin machine. They are GOOD. The fact is, in his 1st 2 yrs, Obama faced a RECORD amount of obstruction. The RW spin machine has been able to spin it to where some people think Obama's first 2 yrs is when he had no obstruction at all, and could get anything he wanted. The TOTAL opposite of the truth. Now THATs spin!

(27,461 posts)might have been people hear that argument and think, ok then if you get re-elected then it isn't going to get any better, because Congress is going to keep blocking you. So we're going to go with Romney, because Congress won't block him (even if it turns out to be a Democratic Congress, they won't block him either).

(155 posts)Running against Congress would have probably opened the door for Romney to bring up his record working with a Dem legislature in Mass.
But my question is, is that Mass. record something Dems could not have exploited.

(5,420 posts)and gridlocked the govt. They did this intentionally. It is an act of Treason to block the US govt for your own personal gains. They did not care if America failed. They did not care how much grief they caused. They acted solely and purposefully against the government and the people of the US, causing great harm to all.
Treasonous bastards all.

(1,453 posts)no other reason than the Rs would have accused the Ds of
complaining and blaming...he can always stress the date that
he started pushing the jobs act, over and over, and let the
public do the math about it. to me, sometimes understating
the obvious has more impact.
JUST ONE WOMAN'S OPINION.
