to paraphrase an old paraphrase.
Seriously, reality started to break through on today's Morning Joe. The numbers from Ohio really nailed it for him. And there's now not enough time to turn it around for Romney. Oh, he was trying to make fun of Obama's interview with Brian Williams sitting among hay bales (what was up with that?). But it was lame.
Also, FINALLY Mika read Kristof's piece in the NYT about the miserable record of austerity in Europe and how we did better because we had a stimulus (inadequate as it was) and are in better shape now. It was the first time I saw them talk about that so it was high time they did! Joe had to sit there and take it (altho you know he doesn't like it!).
And FINALLY, they covered the Mourdock statement! Joe tried to "paraphrase" what Mourdock said to pretty it up, but Mourdock said what he said and coming on the heels of "forcible rape" and "legitimate rape," it really looks ugly.
So some of the repubs are beginning to get it. I hope they keep off the Kool Aid, sober up and decide what they want to do when Obama beats their sorry ass.
Now, I'm making GOTV calls. Obama's doing well here but I won't stop pushing for Chris Murphy. The stakes are just too high.
GOTV!

(5,842 posts)If Murdock was saying that all life is in God's plan then by that logic however that life came to be must also be in God's plan.
Or to be completely cynical, God didn't care enough to intervene and somehow stop the rape but he did allow the rapist to impregnate his victim so a life could be created.
If Romney's continued support of this clown doesn't blow off the "moderate" cover he's been wearing for the last month nothing will.

(63,912 posts)Mostly, I think it was the Ohio numbers. He was still looking for daylight yesterday but today he faced the reality of 12 days to go.
That he has stopped blathering about the first debate was a real relief!

(16,854 posts)They all know they are whores and that they betray democracy. It's the good folks that they dupe that deserve understanding - not Joe & Co types.

(31,706 posts)I had to chuckle listening to him try to spin on Mourdoch...and you could see it the "oh no, not this shit again" expression on his face. He knows how damaging that remark was and how once again the rushpublicans never miss a chance to overplay. Joey's showing the strain...his spin cycle has hit overheat.

(63,912 posts)something out there that can at least to begin to explain it...
Upon reflection, I think that rape is, ultimately, the symbol of men's power over women. If women can exercise power over men's use of rape to control us then that power must be diminished. That's my take on it...

(5,810 posts)Let's Pretend. They've gotten caught up in the Republican hype and lost all their common sense. Today they came crashing back to earth and had to face cold, hard facts. The banner headline the Repubs have been rushing out proclaiming Mitt's victory tour seems a bit premature and just not plausible given some of the polling information coming out of Ohio and other places. It had a chilling effect on Joe today and all the bluster and bluff of earlier this week has evaporated. Hate it for ya, Joe, but really, did you believe all that crap they were selling you?

(63,912 posts)Somebody got to Joe and impressed the bad news on him. The double whammy of the polls out of Ohio and the latest rape remark from a republican just sealed the fate of the republicans. They are finished as a national party. Done. They hang out in the boonies but even that will change.

(3,526 posts)...because if you're a woman voter considering voting for GOP candidates on Election Day, you really have to be thinking, "Who the heck am I really voting for?".
That did real damage to the GOP's chances, and Joe knows it.

(63,912 posts)forcible before that. Taken separately they are one thing, taken all together puts a disturbing picture of republicans before an election! They are shooting themselves in the foot again and again. They can't seem to help themselves. It's crazy...
