Better radio than NPR

Check out Pacifica radio. Programs such as DemocracyNow! in the morning with Amy Goodman.

It is 100% listener funded. They cover Occupy and fracking and climate change and the war on drugs and other topics that matter to citizens of the world.

When your radio tower is blown up twice by the KKK, you must be doing something right. When you rebuild each time and keep on going you must be strong.

I used to give to NPR until they gave a pass to fracking proponents and blew off the idea of studying the effects.

If they want to stay on the air then they should either drop Monsanto the oil and gas industry and the military industrial complex or just charge them more and be done with the illusion of supporting its members.

I podcast Democracy Now. I have little stomach for NPR political coverage though I like some of their shows. But they got nothing on Amy Goodman.

Hate what's happened to NPR. I want to support Public Radio. But as they say, "I didn't leave it--it left me."

to go with NPR. To paraphrase the old Churchill quote about democracy, it's the worst station out there with the exception of all the others (not including Pacifica)...

You can listen via apps such as Spark Radio.

That also lets you catch early shows when they are rebroadcasted.

Especially Democracy Now and Ian Masters' show.

I should add that it is like any other media in that I don't agree with everything I hear there. What I like is that I get in depth interviews with knowledgeable people.

At least you can come to understand what you agree and disagree with. And . . . . . . . . . . . unbelievable as it may sound in this time of Bill O'Reilly's shouting matches, people don't talk over each other on Pacifica. You can actually hear what they say. Each guest is treated with respect, but they don't count the seconds to make sure each opinion gets equal time. They hold real interviews with real experts (usually) and you hear real opinions and facts (not always ones you agree with).

I've always been a long time supporter of NPR, I was raised on it, as were my kids........but lately, the corporate influence has been so great, I switch it off more often than not......so THANKS! for the link to Pacifica, I don't know yet if I can get in Utah, but I will definitely try!

... said some opposed his statement then proceeded to say he had support and listed all the organizations that are speaking in support of him. No mention of women's groups. No mention of rape victims. No balance.
