Mormons refer to non-temple weddings as 'civil marriage', whether they are performed by clergy or officer of the court.

The implication is that these other marriages were second-rate, at least.

On edit: It's clear that Ann is so deeply embedded within mormon culture that she doesn't even realize her statements come across as rude bragging about the atypical belief in American society that she is a soon-to-be goddess.

Which is infuriating, if true. Who the hell is she to decide whether or not someone else's relationship is "real" or not?

is a cult. Brainwashing, attempting to control how and where you live, etc. I know of one devout Mormon (who converted to it as an adult) whose wife took very little money, an old pickup and moved into a trailor near the Grand Canyon. She left behind three boys who had been indoctrinated since birth, and their father constantly put her down....stating that they were "married in heaven, forever."

That was twenty years ago; one of the boys (the youngest) is now Buddhist, and a black belt in something or other, and travels to tournaments all over the world. Not sure how the other two are. Mr. Mormon is on wife #2, who I suppose likes the church....don't know, won't ask.

relationships are not 'real'? Ann is not a whit different saying this than any of those folks. And frankly, we hear this all the time.
I just wanted to add that as disgusting as Ann is, many who say the same things about other people's relationships are similarly disgusting. It is not different because the targets of the crticism are gay.

my poor wife has to settle for an eventual handful of dust while those women get to marry future gods no wonder it is such a popular thing.

"Campaigns can be grueling, exhausting. President Obama and are each very lucky to have one person who is always in our corner, someone who we can lean on, and someone who is a comforting presence. Without whom, we wouldn’t be able to go another day. I have my beautiful wife Ann, he has Bill Clinton."

Romney's like the friggin Riddler and always giving clues to his "crimes"....
