Romney Family after Debate had an "It's Ending" Feel To It

the romney family has come out other times after certain events but this time it kind of had a feeling to it like it was almost over. especially the way Romney's Wife held him at the end as they left the stage.

there have been comments about Romney's Mental State. and it came off to me like them Leading away the Senile Old Grandfather . like he went out and did some crazy things and they were amusing him for a while but now they have all come to take him home.

i want to say, i hope AFter Obama is re-elected and starts his 2nd term, he invites the Romney Family , especially the Grandson to the White House.

but he is probably acting different even in private just among themselves. it's really getting to him and in a bad way.

It's two frickin weeks before the election. Unless there is some HUGE news, there will be very little movement at all.

These campaigns know 100 times more than Nate Silver. They've been polling their hineys off for months now...polling states and even individual counties, cities and suburbs. They need to know where to focus their ads and give their speeches--and where they can unearth extra votes.

So, these campaigns know the score. Absolutely.

The problem is--the media is so hell bent on force feeding us the notion that this race is so close and it's just sooo incredibly tight and oh my gosh, it's just amazing how no one knows what's going to happen!

I really don't think that this is true.

Romney cannot win without Ohio. That is a fact. It's stating EVERYONE in the face. Romney has NEVER been ahead in Ohio. He hasn't even been tied. Obama WAS farther ahead, but the first debate got Romney closer. With Obama's amazing last two debate performances, there's no way in hell Romney is getting any closer. Obama has a lock on that state because of the auto-bailout dynamics and because unemployment is 7 percent there. That state is a living homage to what Obama politics can do. And Romney fought against all of it--despite his lying contradictions as of late.

Furthermore, I've noticed that the media is lying about swing states. I live in Iowa. Our early voting polling numbers are fantastic. We are ahead of 2004. That's...unbelievable! Plus, registered Dems voting has outpaced Republican voting by 20 percent. The polls here have tightened, but Obama has it by 3-4 now. There's no way that Romney wins here, but the media (especially CNN and Chuck Todd) makes their case about how tight it is because Iowa, PA, NV, etc. are sooo close! No Chuck. It's obvious to anyone in Iowa, who isn't in denial--that it's going for Obama.

I think that there is a ton of this nonsense happening. I think both camps know what the score is.

The only ones who don't realize this...are many Republican voters. Many are in denial. Many are simply taking the media at their word. I was on a Republican site today and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Total denial. They think they've got PA and NV. Fox News told them so. Fox News cherry picks polls and the info they give to their audience. It really is a disservice, because these people have no grasp of reality.

You were astute in picking up the vibe of the Romney family. I think you are correct! I didn't notice that, but look at both candidates and their campaigns. Romney seems robotic and tired. Obama seems energized. Paul Ryan is such a bellweather. He seems demoralized, but with a fake smile plastered on his face. And Biden is practically giddy.

We shouldn't be complacent or take anything for granted. I'm volunteering this weekend and doing everything I can. We all should. We know the Republicans cheat. But seriously...things are looking very good for us.

He must be pretty exhausted by now. And yes I do think at some level he knows he's in danger of losing this.

And just...does...not...have...the... energy...to do any more! Just let him go home and sleep on the couch!

Obama is younger, fitter, and has been working like crazy at being POTUS these last years, so can keep on campaigning, shrug off the fatigue, take it in stride.

on Mourning Joke. It was just a tiny bit in order to keep the narrative but was pivoted to the reality of the math.

And as others noted, PA is Obama all the way. I haven't seen one Rmoney "approve this message" ad in a couple months.

This feeling was especially true of Ann Romney's behavior, in that she looked the happiest and most relaxed I've seen her during this campaign. It's over, and she knows it - and she's wanted it over for a long time.

Whatever you think of Ann - and I don't think much of her myself - the truth is she has lived an extremely sheltered life. As a result, she is thin-skinned and easily hurt. She takes every barb thrown at her husband and sons personally. She doesn't have the maturity to brush anything off as "it's just politics" - in the way Michelle does with such aplomb.

Watching Ann on The View, she became almost giddy when talking about this being absolutely the last campaign. She talked about being home with her kids and grandkids, the place where she undoubtedly feels comfortable and in control of her life. Probably the only place she feels worthwhile.

In short, she did not talk like a woman who believed she was facing four to eight years of living in a political fishbowl - which I think she dreaded from day one. I found it telling that when asked about campaigning, she didn't even hint at, "Well, of course, if Mitt is elected, we'll have to do this again in four years."

She looked absolutely radiant at the end of last night's debate - like someone who has been longing to just go home to a quiet life, and knows that's exactly what's going to happen in a matter of weeks.

This woman has lived in a bubble her whole life - protected from the real world by her parents' money, and then her husband's money. Throw in being a dutiful, submissive Mormon daughter/wife/mother, with no wiggle room for any independence.

Despite her money, I think she's lived a very unhappy life. Her husband is an abusive bully; her sons probably followed dad's lead early on in thinking this is a woman to be "dumped on" rather than treated with respect.

I've known women like her. They spend their entire marriages "stabilizing", i.e. smoothing things over so that their husbands' "mental well-being" is never brought to the boiling-over point - because they bear the brunt of it when it does.

She has the demeanor of a battered wife. I've no doubt she has been verbally abused, belittled and humiliated throughout her marriage. Even her over-the-top defensiveness of Mitt smacks of a woman who is used to defending her abuser as though it will score some points with him, thinking that maybe he'll even be nice to her for a while, as a reward for standing up for him.

I started off despising the woman. But having watched her behavior throughout the campaign, I am seeing her in a different light. I now honestly feel sorry for her.

is horrendous. Especially when, like Ann, the woman has to constantly pretend that everything is better than okay, everything is PERFECT. All the while waiting and wondering when the craziness is going to boil over next.

I've started to think that some of the supposedly cute stories the family tells about Mitt's cruel prankishness are actually the family telling us as clearly as they can that the man is crazy, that they are all being held hostage (psychologically and financially).

Ann has been very clear all along that she and the rest of the family DID NOT want him to run. At first I thought they were just being coy, but at this point I think she was sincere.
