I always root for the team from the city whose population needs the biggest boost because a championship in any major sport can get people feeling good about their city, even if only for a little while. In baseball, that would be the Tigers this year.

untouchable Koufax-Drysdale thing going on. That Verlander ever loses given his incredible arm is actually surprising. Hands down the best pitcher in the game.

Willie Mays and Jim Davenport were playing. Guess who I'm rooting for?

Edited to add, if Detroit was playing ANYBODY else, I would root for them for reasons expressed above but...they are playing S.F. Sorry, gotta go to the city I grew up in.

I grew up in Detroit so I am pulling for them. Not that I dislike the Giants. In fact, I may be at AT&T on Thursday thanks to some fantastic luck But I'm not sure about wearing my Tiger hat. Do you think my white hair will protect me from over zealous Giants fans?

By your neighboring seat mate but you are dealing with Old Hippies and young Yuppies, not Raiders fans. Wear your hat! Liberals live here!
