So I get a notice of levy from the IRS in the mail for nearly $15,000

for taxes I 'owe' from 8 years ago. From my bank account that has less than $100 in it.

Two hours on the phone I finally get a person to figure the mess out, AFTER being berated by one of them for not being responsible. Because of a SINGLE digit error in a social security number somewhere in the giant octopus that is the IRS, I got someone else's burden foisted on me. Noe tomorrow I have to call my bank's lien department to get their fax number so the IRS can fax them the release from the levy so that I have money next week to eat and buy my month end medicines.

All because of a single digit.

I KNOW this isn't going to end easy.

no phone calls, emails, or certified, and they HAVE all of my contact information.

They just don't give a shit, and they had EVERYTHING about me at hand. My work, bank, account numbers, everything. And it all started because a refund from 2008 got lost in the mail (for less than $100) and I called to have them find it. B the time they agreed it was lost, guess what, the 4 years had passed and they couldn't refund me any longer. That's how this all started the agent said, from when I called early this year.

You get a different phone number every time. They give you a different address every time. No matter how long you spend on the phone, they make you send in a letter to explain everything (with photocopies of all of your documentation) and then you get the SAME FUCKING COMPUTER-GENERATED LETTER YOU GOT THE FIRST TIME as your only response. It's a black hole. It's just a fucking black hole.

I was behind in filing and filed 2010 in September.

I got a letter from them telling me my refund would be $400 more than I had calculated.

They are good for "something" at times.....
