He'll probably do a sort of 'counter-correction' to 'balance out' Crowley's mid-debate correction of rMoney's claims about the timing of Obama's characterization of Libya as 'a terrorist act'.

(115,831 posts)He's generally a tougher questioner than Lehrer and probably won't let Mittens run over him; and while he probably won't do any mid-debate fact-checking, he's been around long enough to have a reputation to consider. I think he will try to be fair (although, of course, the definition of "fair" might be subject to interpretation).

(29,503 posts)He's a total GOP shill, and if Republicans are complaining, well, you know they'd complain about left-wing bias if a teleprompter was moderating.

(14,400 posts)It was funny to see the how fast the wind direction changed regarding Candy Crowley before, during and after the last debate.
People went from calling her a willing lackey of the RNC and Karl Rove's drinking buddy to the greatest living moderator of a Presidential debate within an hour.

(27,461 posts)I liked Candy Crowley, even before that debate. She reminds me of Wolf Blitzer, someone else who gets a lot of crap which imho is off the mark.
Shieffer seems to me to have a problem with relevance, which I think works in the RW's favor. He seems to dwell on bipartisanship and "tone" even more than the rest of the media. I fear he will ask mostly irrelevant questions like Martha Raddatz's waste of a question about the tone of the campaign. I don't know how he's going to do that with foreign policy, maybe he'll just dumb the whole thing down. If the foreign policy debate is conducted at a dumb level, that favors Romney.
