Many of us know little about this religion and its beliefs or practices. I've been viewing these and they are very instructional in terms of the core beliefs regarding women. What Romney seems to telegraph to us about his role of women as being lesser in society is given context. While men are "endowed" in a ritual to become kings and priests of the universe, women are given a fairly circumscribed role to be queens and priestesses to their husbands. The sole role for women is to pay attention to the "counsel" of their husbands. Given that there is no mention of the role of a single woman, the default role for the woman must be that of spouse.
Given the remarks Romney has made, there is nothing to lead me to believe that he will treat women of other traditions any differently than those instructions given in his own theology.

At least for me. They swear a blood oath against the US and intend a takeover of our government?

Are there any other observations you can share after having seen them? Any mention of Kolob, Jesus coming to America, the white horse prophecy, their racism etc?

(9,273 posts)see also the Catholic Church, Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, etc. -- view women as inferior human beings, second-class citizens, regardless of how much they state that women have "the highest power" by serving their families.

They can be school principals or hospital administrators but have no positions of authority in the Church itself.

(14,040 posts)they'll throw over their own personal beliefs to make this so, just look at Billy Graham that took down a section of his website that proclaims Mormonism is a cult. I wonder how much the Mormon church donated to Billy Graham to make that happen?

(14,040 posts)I'm not a religious person, most would probably claim I was an atheist but if I do have one faith or belief, it's that hypocrisy is the most deeply held belief that the christian right holds.
