PLEASE, if you haven't done so already, sign the petition at the link below and leave your comments there to Attorney General Eric Holder regarding the Romney family's ownership of the voting machines to be used in the upcoming election in Ohio and 9 other states. Most who are signing are citing a "conflict of interests" on the part of the Romney family since Mitt is running for election.
WE NEED ALL THE SIGNATURES WE CAN GET in order to ensure Eric Holder in the Department of Justice takes this seriously and gives it top priority.
TIME IS RUNNING SHORT TILL THE ELECTION. DON'T LET THE ROMNEYS STEAL THE VOTE. Thanks!

(149,694 posts)When the folks who own the machines that count the votes are in the same family as one of the candidates, then you have a huge conflict of interest. The potential for fraud is enormous. Please investigate this NOW. Thank you.

(7,887 posts)Eric Holder has been under attack by the Tea Party, so he isn't one of theirs, but he can't be seen to doing this as a "favor" to Barack Obama.
An OUTCRY from the people is a reason to act that is a "reaction" rather than an "action" a "have to" rather than a "want to" so it isn't as easy to hold it against him if he does take action.

(42,758 posts)DOJ tries -- or at least it is supposed to try -- to avoid appearing to be acting based on political pressure. Sure, that wasn't the case during the chimpy administration, but we complained long and loudly about that and one of the President's promises was to get politics out of DOJ. DOJ investigates where there is probable cause. And the fact that Tagg Romney and Bain have investments in private equity funds that have a stake in a company that has a stake in the company that makes voting machines doesn't amount to probable cause of any tampering with those machines. So don't hold your breath waiting for DOJ to get involved unless something more can be found. If DOJ tried to subpoena any information based on what is currently known, a judge would quash it in a second and the end result would be a huge embarrassment for the President. I understand why people are concerned, but at this point, without more, there just isn't enough to get DOJ to act and no amount of petitioning is going to change that.

(7,887 posts)The more people involved, the more things kind of changed behind the scenes. They may publicly ignore us, but they take note of our numbers and strength.
These elected officials can only really "ignore" us if we let them. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY. They are elected stewards and they can be unelected. Keeping that right clear is our biggest challenge. As long as we have it, they are afraid, very afraid every election season if they've been naughty.
We had 1/2 a million marching in DC against the War in Iraq in 2005. A dog who swallowed a butcher knife and lived got more air time than we did. We were SO ignored. DC cops told us we were one of the biggest demonstration since the 60's - other than the million man. But our boots on the ground rattled the administration.
They were so afraid of us they had "regular maintenance" on the bus line from the airport to the Hill which meant there was 1 bus every hour vs 1 every 15 minutes. It was scheduled when they KNEW there would be at least 380,000 because those people had booked hotels in advance. They were trying to discourage us, make us afraid.
JOHN CONYERS WAS NOT ALLOWED TO BRING OVER 1/2 a million signatures into the front door of the White House, but he still delivered them to the Congressional Record and the Downing Street Memo got addressed.

Tell the Truth About Iraq
The Times of London published a "smoking gun" memo on President Bushs lies leading up to the Iraq war. On June 16, Congressman John Conyers delivered 560,000 petition signatures to the White Houseincluding more than 360,000 from MoveOn membersdemanding that Bush address the evidence in the "Downing Street Memo."
