Its as if we are closer to becoming what the futuristic nightmare movies of the past

Roller Ball, Running Man, Idiocracy and Americathon.

The tea party are the guys from Deliverance
The fox bot right wingers are the people from Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Mitt Romney is the presidential candidate from the Dead Zone
And the koch's want to turn us workers into those in Metropolis

And right now we are in the beginnings of Soylent Green if the repugs get rid of social security and medicare.

True scary times that make me lose sleep at night.

Until we get rid of citizens united and fix our voting system so everyone can participate and a get back true independent free press we are doomed to a gloomy future.

That is why this election is so important, vote for Obama/Biden and every Democratic candidate to slow down the corporate takeover of America.

Miracle Mile is one of my favorite end of the world flicks. It's low budget, crazy, but keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Trailer:

on edit: Never saw the trailer before today. Terrible trailer. Good flick. BTW, Tangerine Dream soundtrack.

My friends and I still say that on occasion, when appropriate.

10. Landa reading the Cliff Notes version of Pychon's "Gravity's Rainbow"

Post-Modernist claptrap. I suspect the only way to read it is via Cliff Notes.

But Landa, played by Denise Crosby, was perfectly cast as the uber-geek, late night knows everything.

I love that flick, except for Mare Winningham's horrible mullet hair. Everything else just works.

That movie is a classic on the dehumanization of workers and the promise of social justice. I've watched it a dozen times at least. It's both funny and politically relevant even today, and the beautiful Paulette Godard is wonderful in her role as the homeless girl. (Too bad she's 100 years too old for me and already dead!)
