Am I reading this right?

The super PAC backing President Obama raised $15 million last month, including $1 million from Sam Walton, the chairman of Wal-Mart, a traditional Republican-leaning organization.
Cognitive dissonance is kicking in here...

OP
I think it's a way for them to get on "blue" lists so people get confused. They donate to both.

(27,670 posts)3. It's simply an attempt to buy influence.
The 1% has enough money to play on both sides of the fence.
It's just smart business.
This is from back in June, 2012:
Walmart Cuts Funds to Conservative Group, Cash Flow to GOP Continues
But while Americas largest retailer is publically backing away from this conservative cause, Wal-Marts owners are still pumping major money into conservative candidates.
The Walton family, which owns Walmart, has already donated $624,100 to Republican candidates and Super PACs this cycle, according to disclosure data analyzed by the Center for Responsive Politics. Ninety percent of those donations went to support GOP presidential candidates.
Jim Walton, the son of Walmart founder Sam Walton and the eighth richest man in America according to Forbes, initially put his money behind Jon Huntsman. The billionaire gave $2,500 to Huntsmans campaign and $100,000 to Our Destiny PAC, which supported Huntsman. But after Huntsmans campaign floundered, Walton switched his support to Romney, dumping $200,000 into the pro-Romney Super PAC Restore Our Future and another $2,500 into the Romney campaign.

I think it's a protest donation... as in AGAINST their newest nitwit candidate.

SOME of their money may be employee donations. Someone having to work at Wal-Mart would be a likely DEM.
ALSO - Sam Walton has SAM'S Club which is a separate business ... I'll check their numbers AND as an INDIVIDUAL he can donate as well.
CONTRIBUTIONS
$2,510,420
ranks 74 of 19,644
Total contributions to PACs, parties and outside spending groups: $1,360,354
Total contributions to candidates: $1,150,066
Top Candidate Recipients, 2011-2012
Barack Obama (D) $36,487
Steve Womack (R-AR) $33,950
Mitt Romney (R) $31,725
Ben Quayle (R-AZ) $11,000
John Barrow (D-GA) $10,500
THEY ACTUALLY SPEND MORE ON LOBBYING:
$3,000,000 (2012)
$7,840,000 (2011)

Maybe one of his sons or grandsons?
As much as I hate to say this, that donation would seem to close of any chance of Obama fighting for EFCA if he gets a second term .
