Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) on Sunday attacked Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, for releasing sensitive documents on Friday that included the names of Libyans working with the United States, calling it an inexcusable threat to their safety.
"This idea of Chairman Issa, that he's going to dump the names, in public, of Libyans who are risking their lives to support America and keep us safe, in an effort to get a political toe-hold in this election, is unconscionable," Durbin said on "Fox News Sunday." "It is unacceptable."

(25,285 posts)just like Rmoney's reaction with his statement before any facts were known about the killing of the four embassy officials was turned around on him by PBO and the scolding he received from the President from that incident - the same will happen with the release of these documents - if Rmoney tries to bring them up at this next debate.
Rmoney, Issa and the Repugs will be called out as being irresponsible and reckless and actually endangering lives of people that are helping the U.S. and putting our country in more jeopardy.
Are these the kind of people you want in D.C. running our government? dealing with sensitive foreign policy matters?

(37,163 posts)I'm old enough to remember Oliver North claiming he felt justified in withholding information from congressional oversight committeemen because of leaks of sensitive information that could cost operatives and informants their lives. (I also was paying attention for the follow-up, when it was revealed that for the examples he gave, the leaker was North himself, not anyone in Congress.)
Surely you can't agree that the Obama administration would be completely justified in withholding important information from Congress due to even more egregious leaks than North spoke of (and made). Since Darrell Issa has clearly shown himself unable to honor the requirements of security clearance he has due to his position as chairman of the House Oversight Committee, when are you going to strip him of that post? Not if. When.
When will he be held accountable?
(and for the rest of us, if Issa is not held accountable, use that lack of action as sticks to beat on Boehner, Cantor, and Republicans in general. Where's the accountability in "the party of personal responsibility"?
