8-Year-Old Girl Dresses as Different Historical Figure Every Day

Since the second day of second grade, Omaha, Neb. Stella Ehrhart, 8, has gone to school dressed as a different person — sometimes fictional, mostly historical — almost every day.

Her first costume was Laura Ingalls Wilder. Now in third grade, Stella has channeled Joan Baez, Queen Elizabeth, Billie Holiday, Georgia O’Keefe, Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and more for her daily outfits.

Though Stella’s costumes occasionally veer into non-historical woman territory — she has dressed as Elvis Costello, Jan Brady, her best friend and her school principal — the majority of her inspiration comes from the book 100 Most Important Women of the 20th Century. According to Omaha.com, Stella’s teachers have used her outfits as a jump-off point for classroom instruction:

She must get huge parental support to be able to accomplish this. Hopefully it is support and not pressure.

It appears this is NOT the case here, but why is it so odd to be suspicious, particularly since she is so young?

Here is a little info from a link that I added down thread:

Neither parent supplies the costumes or the ideas. They just roll with what Stella wants to do and support her, grateful that she's emulating stories and strength, not beauty.

They describe Stella as fearless, compassionate and, well, creative. She writes. She draws. She repurposes old things. “Don't throw that bottle away!” she'll holler.

Stella's repertoire includes Elvis Costello, local philanthropist Susie Buffett, Jan Brady of “The Brady Bunch” and Old Turtle from a children's book by the same name.

Mostly Stella draws inspiration from her “Important Women” book, thumbing through glossy pages rich with photos. Her mother logs her costumes on the house calendar.

just a creative little girl.

there typically is, with such stories.

dundee is a high income school, the best elementary school in omaha. it's in warren buffett's neighborhood.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dundee-Happy_Hollow_Historic_District

what the neighborhood looks like:

"Her parents must be super-wealthy to be able to buy her five sets of clothes a week."
Maybe the neighbors help. Dundee School is not far from Buffet grocery store
