by Jed Lewison
This is a fantastic new ad from the Obama campaign:
Brian: "They came up and said you are definitely laid offeverybody as of right now."
Karen: "What was I going to do for my children? Are they going to have a home?"
Miles: "Without President Obama's rescue of the auto industry, Ohio would have collapsed."
George: "Mitt Romney would have just let us go under- just let them go...bankrupt."
Romney: "Yeah, that's...that's exactly what I said, the headline that you read which is, said: "let Detroit go bankrupt."
Karen: "And for him to just say let them fail."
George: "How can you say something like that? It's just beyond me."
It's just a brutal adbut the amazing thing is that the guy who delivers its most brutal attack is Mitt Romney, on himself, when he says, "Yeah, that's what I said: Let Detroit go bankrupt." Juxtaposed with the people whose livelihoods he would have so callously thrown down the drain, it's easily one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, ads of the campaign. And that last question"How can you say something like that?"that's not a question that Mitt Romney can answer. All he can do is hope that people don't see the ad.

(550 posts)So much Romney material. So much footage of him to make use of. Finally the ads are what they should be after months of disappointment; the campaign would be dead and buried by now if they'd gone for the jugular earlier, instead of favouring the comparatively vapid "severely conservative" tip over his general two-faced sleaziness and inability to keep a straight story.

(25,988 posts)the infinitesimally small attention span that many people have - especially where politics is concerned. I reside in a location that is arguably 'ground zero' for political ads, so I can attest to the fact that the sheer volume is mind-numbing, even for a politically-attuned individual such as myself. Better, IMO, to save the best stuff for the home stretch.

(550 posts)the fact is that Romney's first debate performance would have been neutered if, say, the month since the DNC had been blanketed with ads showing his many different sides. He would've been boxed into a corner.

(69 posts)Time to take all gloves off and start hitting him where it hurts. Run this in Ohio, Michigan. Run ads where he called for the housing market to foreclose without any assistance.
Run ads using their own words and voices. We are barely 3 weeks away. Time for a final push. More Bain ads, More 47% ads.
