Big Tex just burned up!

Big Tex went up in flames this morning at the State Fair of Texas.

The fire was reported shortly after 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds in Dallas.

“It’s a very sad day for all fair-goers,” fair spokeswoman Sue Gooding told Fox 4 News. “It’s a sad way to end the fair.”

Gooding said the smoke could be seen coming from Big Tex’s neck. She suspects it may have been electrical in nature.

Doesn't matter who it is, the destruction of a landmark is just not fun.

Hope there are plans for rebuilding and improving.

He used to be dressed in UT Longhorn burnt orange, but changed to red, white, and blue so as not to exclude the Oklahoma Sooners fans on UT-OU weekend. Ridiculous. I'm sure they have their own State Fair.

Guess that's one thing off bucket list of things to do in Texas.

Funny pic, though. Flames shooting out his head and crotch.

I returned it to its stock silver blue metallic. Then I sold it after 45 years two years ago.

You seem to know who I am. Would you please return the favor? Back channel DU mail?
