The GOP was against the legislation protecting women against violence. They wanted to redefine rape. They wanted to pass laws that would force women to prove that a rape was not consensual. And they always blame the woman for being raped. In some states they have enabled women abusers by cutting safe shelter funding.

They support fundamentalist religions that believe that there is no such thing as rape when a woman is married. That a man has a right to demand sex whenever he wants.

The GOP is as extreme as the Taliban.

5. Think About What They Want

Their rhetoric is cumulative. Imagine what it would be like if all of their policies were fully implemented. Personhood, end of Planned Parenthood, the right of believers to deny contraception, even the outlawing of contraception itself, and the ability to control women's health care decisions at the most extreme levels. Even some GOPPER candidates calling for jailing women and doctors for participating in an abortion perhaps even a necessary one. And I believe that one candidate even indicated they might support the death penalty.

Their attitudes toward women in the work place. Even some saying women should not even vote because they are two emotional. 1100 basically anti women pieces of legislation in the last cycle nationally.

In the context of our country they are as extreme as the Taliban. Anyone who does not look at the total assault on women is not paying attention.

We are too willing to ignore what the GOP stands for today.

6. The GOP also wants to prosecute rape victims instead of rapists

They want to be exactly like the oppressive, misogynist regimes in the Middle East who relish in blaming the victims of rape for failing to fight off men three times their size as if it were her fault instead of his.

They think rapists are heroes instead of criminals and should be given medals instead of hard time behind bars.
