He acted like he was at one of his own rallies. The tradition has become to be self deprecating. I don't think mitt can do it.

And his Catholic jokes skeeved me and I'm not Catholic. But I'm not sure why. I was listening in the other room, not watching.

#Obama was the focus of both Al Smith speeches. Romney was biting. Obama was self-depricating.

Maybe it will wake my former church up into turning against the Mittens. I might be able to use it with some of my still Catholic relatives.

I think he will not be remembered fondly. Four years from now they will talk about the contrast between McCain and romney with romney as loser. He disregarded the spirit of the whole thing and ultimately just used it as a platform to affirm his commitment to the war on women.

He had some thoroughly mean spirited jokes. The worst was the Bill Clinton reference that denigrated both Michelle Obama and the LGBT community.

He's absolutely disgusting and I think he will go down once again worse than W.

He all but called Michelle Obama unattractive in one joke. His sitting up and begging for votes at the end was anything but heartfelt. Purely patronizing. And it showed.

Starting off with the 'house clothes' was the way to go... it went downhill from there.

Calling his big joke about Michelle "uncomfortable" is the understatement of the day. I think he's trying to draw Obama into a public show of anger and so far it hasn't worked.

Obama's comments were funny and light while Mitt got personal. What an asshole.

and some really poorly-written material as well.

His first joke about wearing what he and Ann "wear around the house" was perfect. Had his material stayed in that vein, he would have done himself a lot of good.

Unfortunately (and predictably), he had to keep referring to notes - and sounded not unlike a 10th grader addressing a HS assembly. "And I'd like to welcome," look at notes, "Principal Smith and my fellow students," check notes, "of PS 162 here in," check notes again, "Canarsie, New York."

He told the "jokes" - even though he doesn't "get" them. But he was told that some people would.

Sad. Really.

which makes sense, because a lot of them are going to start peeling away from the sheer trouble of it all, to go vote for this lame candidate. He's hoping for at least the ones to MAY vote for him to actually bother to check the calendar the day of.
