The top Republican on the House Foreign Relations Committee on Sunday said President Biden will have blood on his hands over the withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan as Taliban fighters entered Kabul and American troops raced to evacuate staffers from the US Embassy.
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) said the US troop pullout has been an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions.
This is going to be a stain on this president and his presidency, McCaul said on CNNs State of the Union as Biden spends the weekend out of the public eye at Camp David.
And I think hes going to have blood on his hands from what they did, the congressman added, referring to the Biden administration.
They totally blew this one, they completely underestimated the strength of the Taliban.

(16,448 posts)Frankly I dont think Americans care about brown people in far off places as much as Rep. McCaul thinks they do. There are a number of humanitarian crisis across the globe that most people dont give a shit about.

Straight to Bidens culpability for their own screw ups. These are disgusting people.

(4,267 posts)I think we'll have the least for leaving. If history has taught anything to us and others before us, Afghanistan's issues can only be resolved by its own people; they have to find the resolve to keep the Taliban out.

(13,614 posts)That's to laugh. The Afghan "army" offered no resistance. It doesn't take a force with any "strength" to overcome another force that either just runs away or gleefully and willingly joins your side. But at least Ghani made it out with four of his cars and as much US taxpayer cash as he could cram into his helicopter!

(4,026 posts)Republicans just need to stop pointing fingers when they have as much if not more blood on their hands from Bush II invading to Trump releasing Taliban prisoners. The Afghans clearly have no stomach to self-govern and have been nursed long enough. The absence of Republican response to the Kurdish massacre just a paints them as the hypocrites that they are.

(32,626 posts)20 years ago, the media aided and abetted those insisting on war, they lied.. and they've only gotten worse. Now they're dusting off and trotting out the same people to share their 'expertise'. It would be one thing if Afghanistan was a hot topic at some point in the last however many years. Must have been and I missed it. Too many people are too knowledgeable about not only the present, but the past history of Afghanistan. More so than the history of this country, which is only 245 years. My mind will not compute. Guess it's time for a break.

(9,995 posts)It was always going to be this way, no matter when or how we left. The Afghan "army" is a joke. They don't want to fight, they just want to go home, or someplace else.
And McCaul is from Texass. He should be able to recognize horse pucky, whether he's seeing it or spewing it.
