Obama picks McCormick Place for election night rally

President Barack Obama will hold his election-night rally at Chicago’s McCormick Place, a source with knowledge of the event told the Chicago Tribune tonight.

No further details were disclosed about the Nov. 6 event, which Obama hopes will be his re-election victory party.

Given the indoor location, the event seems unlikely to match the atmosphere of his 2008 outdoor victory rally in Grant Park.

That event drew an estimated 240,000 people downtown and created picturesque images that were seen worldwide.
