THANK YOU to everyone who called the president on his first debate ....

... last night was the fruit of your efforts.

Who knows what we would have seen if all Obama heard last time was what a good job he did and how it was hopeless if all Romney was going to do is lie.

him continue to kill himself. obama remain presidential.

the strategic decision was a fail, they learned from it.

one can equally say, have a little bit of rationality to the whole obama failed first debate crap, which you sound as if you lack.

I should get rational? I should join the "lets all say our guy won no matter what my eyes saw" crowd?

Tonight is when Obama started to look presidential. Aloof and disinterested is not presidential.

I hope Obama brings the same game to the third debate.

Yeah, all the pissing and moaning on DU is what propelled President Obama to a stellar performance last night.

All it showed was how quickly DUers were to swallow corporate media spin hook, line & sinker

I watched the debate and thought Obama did a decent job of presenting his version of things and his vision. He didn't smack down Rmoney but I was shocked at how the event was spun.

Was further shocked to see DUers lapping it up. It wasn't a fiery performance but it wasn't "poor". To hear DUers (such as yourself) tell it, it was a complete disaster.

You want to see a REAL complete disaster? That was Ryan v Biden and poor widdle Mittens last night. THAT was disaster.

So yeah, your self-congratulatory pap is just that.

go his way in Denver in part by listening to Chris Matthews who he apparently could hear (and listening and watching the video himself).... Last night was a call to arms and he took it, end of story. If the President says he didn't do a great job is it wrong to agree with him? Because I certainly agree he didn't do a great job in the first debate.

They realized that common, ordinary politeness was actually not a good thing in the POTUS debates, for the first time in history. Because the party of fail nominated someone who is too much of a bully to follow the rules. They would have realized this without DU.

The Rs try a "big surprise" every time. With McCain, it was nominated Palin. That caused all sorts of excitement and was unexpected. This time, they decided that acting like an ass during a debate would be a shocker, and it was.

They are all show and circus tricks. No substance.

Obama never treats his opponents with such disrespect that some here give to him.

Even Romney, his arch enemy - Obama treated him respectfully - until he was pushed over the edge on the Libya issue last night - then he was in protection mode for others, not himself.

but here? omg, and now the screamers are to take bows for guiding the otherwise clueless Obama to victory last night. jeeezus cripes on a trailer hitch.

it's irrelevant at this stage. if you want to believe that patting obama on the back and telling him great job was what made him change his style, then knock yourself out. you may want to let this sad sammer debbie downer cutten runner know too.

"Governor Romney had a good night. I had a bad night," Mr Obama told the ABC World News programme, according to advance excerpts of his first interview since the October 3rd face-off in Denver.

"It's not the first time I've had a bad night. But I think what's important is the fundamentals of what this race is about haven't changed," Mr Obama said as he sought to play down the overall impact. "You know, governor Romney went to a lot of trouble to try to hide what his positions are."

Pressed for an explanation of what went wrong in the first of three presidential debates, Mr Obama appeared reluctant to offer much insight. "Maybe this is because I played a lot of sports when I was a kid, and still do," he said. "If you have a bad game, you just move on.

"You look forward to the next one. And it makes you that much more determined. The difference between this and sports is that the stakes are so high."

it's over, man. come to the present - Obama kicked Romney's fucking ass last night - one would think that would be tears of happiness to anyone who is on his side.....

o yah, I forgot, it was YOU who actually won that debate. See ths is how things work: If Obama 'loses', it's his own damn fault, but if he 'wins' it's because of those that don't have any manners, like Matthews, that got him there.

fun facts, we need our own fact checkers here.

and the reason that i'm "obsessing on this" is because a lot of good, old time DUers were piled on for stating the obvious regarding Obama's weak debate two weeks ago. it would be nice to see someone just admit that yeh, someone lit a fire under Obama's ass, and wasn't the sycophants around here patting his back and telling him what a great job he did, like it's the special olympics. don't know where the hell you're going with this line of bullshit about me winning the debate. quite frankly, i think WE ALL won last night. but lets not pretend that Obama won by doing the same thing he did in the first debate, because his performance last night was 180 degrees. that's all i'm saying. good day.

I'll be thinking of how Obama has improved the Health Care situation, how he has to spar with weasels every day (and those weasels come from some pretty familiar places), how he can juggle all the things that he must do, every day, for years on end and he does this with grace and humility for all of us, for the world... I will be thinking of that and thanking him for his service.

You can think about old debates and how awful DUers were treated when they agreed with raging bull matthews that night.

We showed him, didn't we? Whining and focusing almost 100 % on Obama's truthful but lethargic performance while letting Romney skate away almost untouched served us really well. The president's poll plummet snowballed as we crapped on him night after night after night for a bad night, allowing the narrative to become how Romney changed everything with one good night after months of fuckwittery.

Yea, we did great. Yay us.
