I’d like to hear something like this:

Yeah, I didn’t do very well in the last debate. One of the reasons is that I’d prepared to debate the Mitt Romney I’ve heard campaigning for the past several years. That Mitt Romney wants to increase defense spending, cut taxes on the super-rich, and eliminate the deficit, all at the same time. If we get that Mitt Romney, the deficit will soar, and so will taxes on the middle class. Now my opponent is telling you he’s a different Mitt Romney. You have to ask yourself, if he’s elected, which Mitt Romney you’re gonna get. The Koch brothers are pretty sure you’re gonna get their Mitt Romney. The Mitt Romney who pledged that he wouldn’t accept one dollar in new revenue for every ten dollars in spending cuts. The Mitt Romney who, when he thinks nobody’s watching, calls half of you irresponsible freeloaders.
