Romney's tax plan (sic) is claimed to be a 20% tax cut for everyone, offset by tax increases on the rich to make it revenue neutral.
This would be a huge redistributive move. A 20% tax cut on the working class and middle class paid for entirely by tax increases on the wealthy.
It is the most socialist proposal made in a presidential campaign since McGovern. A fairly direct payment of $5 trillion from the rich to the non-rich. The proposal isn't taxing the rich more to pay for government, it is to tax the rich more in order to give 100% of that tax revenue directly to lower income people.
I would bet that nobody has ever asked Romney how a conservative can morally justify the confiscation and redistribution of $5 trillion.
And it is odd that rich people are not complaining about it.
It is almost as if everyone on the planet knows that Romney has no intention of doing anything like that.
Hmmmm.

(19,877 posts)It's higher taxes for the middle class. Bush transferred 90% of the wealth to the top 1%. The Koch Bros hired Mitt Romney to grab the other 10%. Who better than someone who knows how to milk every last dime from the working class.
