(9,644 posts)I posted this on another thread as well - just thought I would spam the board this morning.
Tax cheat - well documented.
Mitt Romney's Tax Dodge
Liar - Bain bought viable companies, squeezed every last cent out of the balance sheets for investor profit and in the process destroyed the company and many jobs along with it. The lying bastard was never a "job creator" and the corporate class is not a job creator. They exist to make profit. Right now they are sitting on billions if not trillions of dollars of cash handed to them through the bush tax cuts. Money that could be doing a lot to employ people and rebuild the country and economy.
The First Debate: Mitt Romney's Five Biggest Lies
Fraud - see tax cheat and liar above. If he is the great businessman that he claims to be, why can't we see the tax returns? Are they that fucking bad? What criminal activity will they expose? How is an election against a lying asshole like this even close?

I posted 10 lies.
She deleted me from her friends list (thank goodness!)

Especially when it becomes clear that the repukes do want to ban abortion, prevent insurance companies from covering birth control, privatize social security and medicare, and almost every other issue that Biden pointed out.
and yes, the President did prevent a total economic collapse, allow 40 million uninsured to be covered, saved the auto industry, got bin laden and is getting us out of the wars that the republicans started

(365 posts)mine, yesterday. No way could one debate cause such a turn around.

(99,710 posts)But I have seen the suggestion that the debate was some kind of Black Swan event. I dispute that but it wasn't as if the president was sitting on a huge lead before the debate.

The Republicans, more specifically the Romney campaign team, engineered an incredible rope-a-dope....Romney stayed right long after everyone expected him to move to the center and then in front of 67 million people Magical Moderate Mitt introduced himself to the nation. And what did the fools on the left do in response? Chris Matthews had a nervous breakdown right on television and most of the pundits followed suit. Have you heard a single right winger out there criticizing Romney's about face? No, of course not. But Dems are still whining and demanding Obama not let them down again. They should have been screaming "Romney Lied, Romney Lied"...instead of "Where was Obama?" The uninformed are now making their voices heard...we've always known they were out there...so the polls are shifting...what worries me more is the drop on Intrade which now has him at a 59% chance of winning and Romney at 40%...Obama was as high as 80% prior to the debate. Some of that is Dems losing confidence.

You actually believe the Mitt's flip flopping is a strategy?

(1,047 posts)A middle aged african american women I work with says she thought Biden appeared arrogant with the way he kept laughing at Ryan. She said nothing of Ryans lies. She said on the first debate that Prez Obama shouldve been more aggessive, not even mentioning Rmoneys lies. I tried to point that out but she wasnt hearing it. If this is how "undecided" voters think then we're in trouble. To this woman her regilion is everything and politics is irrelevant. She doesn't even vote. Its mainly because of me that she even watched the debates. Now, I'm a spiritual relatively young black woman myself but I found it highly crucial to influence the outcome of people who make policies that affect me and my family. Some folks just don't get it.

(7,515 posts)you don't actually believe that he believes anything he said during that debate do you? The campaign said he had been practicing since JUNE...that's a strategy. That wasn't a flip-flop that was a bold-faced move to hoodwink the uninformed. Polls were showing his position was not popular among any but the most devoted republicans...

...that Ryan flipped back to extreme right wing to "hoodwink the uninformed"?
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)Ryan never really flipped anywhere....Ryan's assignment was to assure the right wing nut base that Romney is still a right wing nut tool.

(3,226 posts)the loudest attacks came as friendly fire from the left. People are so concerned about "Not Walking In Lock Step" or "Do Not Tell ME I Will Do What I Want To" ..... This is the fight for the future of this country. Sometime I think people think that Obama can do it all by himself, in 2010 many could not be bothered to vote because they did not feel the need. The problem this year may not be on the right but the left not working hard enough to win at all cost. NEVER GIVE UP

(14,564 posts)I hate it, it makes me sick in the stomach.
I also was where a lot of people are now right after the debate.
I said it was what the Rs called a "sugar high" after the conventions.
But, for whatever polling that is republican skewed, ALL the metrics show that it has turned sharply.
The national polls, the state polls, the polls of polls, intrade.
It has been sharper and more significant than the bounce from the conventions for the President.
If it were today, the president would win a fairly close election.
If the trends continue, Romney would win by late next week.
We have to HOPE that it is currently leveling, that the good economic numbers and Joe Biden's efforts have stopped the bleeding.
But, our guy has to strap them up and work absolute MAGIC on Tuesday.
He has to win, to win, but he has to do more than that to get the momentum redirected.
Even if Romney goes on stage, engages in Salah before unzipping and urinating on the audience, the right, and by extension a good portion of the media, will call it a draw or Romney win. And, a draw is a Romney win.
It defies reason, we know this president has done a DARN GOOD JOB, but this race is VERY much in flux right now.

(103,856 posts)pollsters are not allowed to call cellphones.
time of day matters too.. if pollsters call before 7 PM, they are likely to get retired/older people..especially if the calls are made on Fri-Sat
pollsters also know which side has the butter..if conservatives employ them, they will move heaven & earth to poll "friendly " zipcodes (they probably have access to voter registration lists)
cthulu2016
(10,960 posts)First, live interview pollsters are allowed to call cell phones, and they do. (Robocall pollsters like Rasmussen do not, which is a source if his particular polling bias, but all the real polls are live interview.)
Second, all the mainstream pollsters weight the demographic sample. Age is adjusted. So is region. So are cell phone vs. land line, sex, and race.
Now, if you are saying that the polls are intentionally faked (which picking friendly zip-codes would be) then there is no further argument needed. If they are fake they are fake. But to the best of our ability to know, all the mainstream pollsters use random dialing with the samples weighted to demographic norms.
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)actual thing. The polling moving does not mean the race has turned around, it means there is different polling data today. These polls do not even claim to be about the future, they are 'snapshots of the moment' and that is soooo different from the end results....
If you pick up on polls intended to define this moment and use them as if they were intended as predicitions, you are making a very basic error.
