The President Is Going To Have A Much Better Debate On Tuesday Night

As I have said, ad nauseum and ad infinitum, I didn't think the president did all that badly. But if you look at the debate reaction from voters, the press and even some of his stalwart supporters it was an unmitigated disaster. He was perceived as passive. There is a difference between being cool and above it all and being passive. This is correctable.

He needs out to point out that his administration prevented an economic depression, saved the automobile industry , killed Bin Laden, and put America on the road to sustained economic growth and that Willard Romney is a prevaricating, pusillanimous, and platitudinous plutocrat.

And he needs to do it with a smile on his face.

My president had a bad night. Even my hero, my idol, my sports god, Muhammad Ali didn't retire undefeated. In fact when the then undefeated Muhammad Ali was asked what he would do if he lost a fight he replied "No man beat me twice."

I know you can do a bang up job on the debate Mr. President. You are doing it for all of us.

much different than his was outrageous, and he needs to be very clear and precise on that

In addition, if must work in protecting women's rights, planned parenthood, and other programs that the republicans will destroy

but perhaps the most important would be letting people know that the next President will determine the Supreme Court direction for the next twenty years

He has to and will do better.

I'm not much of a fan of Winston Churchill's politics but I admire his steely resolve, ergo, “It is not enough that we do our best; sometimes we must do what is required.” And what is required is that Barack Obama wins the debate Tuesday night and beomes the Comeback Kid 2.0.

auto industry, social security and medicare, women's rights, getting us out of republican induced wars, and getting osama bin laden to only site a few things

and yes the BLS and job numbers are getting better, all the above done without the help of 99% of the republican Congress

The upcoming debate is a town hall debate with so called undecided voters.

And it's an easy to shoehorn the bailout to foreign policy by arguing that to be strong abroad a nation has to be strong at home and a healthy manufacturing base is part of that strength.

I hope you are right, but time will tell.

I think the media already have their post-debate story ready to go. Which candidate appeared the most "presidential"? The President cannot naturally be as aggressive as Joe Biden. Joe is able to smile, even as he is biting off your head. The President is not able to do that. He shouldn't even try.

However, he can state the facts. He can call Romney on his "misstatements". He can tell folks that the Romney policies are the same as the Bush policies, except on steroids. He can remind folks how far we have come in cleaning up the Republican mess. He can caution and warn the American people not to go back to the same policies that we are still trying to clean up. Also, he can remind voters of what Bill Clinton said about nobody could clean up this mess in just 4 years.

There is a lot he can say but he does not want to come across as unnaturally aggressive. If he does, the media will destroy him.
