Obama is going to surge again in a few days.
Meantime, Nate Silver provided good insights into polling, more generally. Some of the smaller, less reputable polling organizations display a herd mentality and may adjust their results to align with the majors. What I take from that is: skepticism is needed re: the polls.

(62 posts)Great to see a positive thread. My wife and I have been donating some with each pay check since August.
Looking forward to the Obama surge later in the weekend and next week. If he hasn't regained the lead following the debate I will get a bit "concerned" but will not give up at all since there will still be nearly three weeks to the election. Polls could swing 5 points in a few days. I honestly feel that Romney has hit his "high water mark".

I'm pretty optimistic. It's just political inertia and the after shocks of the first debate. But new events such as the jobs report, consumer confidence, the VP debate and soon the 2nd Presidential debate will completely overtake the first debate. The last impression is often the most important in elections.
