11. Most people think of the W coast for earthquakes but one of the largest was in New Madrid, MO

in the early 1800s. Not many folks there at the time but it was in excess of magnitude 7.5 and some believe could have been closer to a 9. Frequency is less on east coast and midwest than CA and AK but major quakes are possible.
