Unlike with Adlai during the Cuban missile crisis, nobody is worried that Biden isn't tough enough. And he's a better debater than Obama, and most other people.

But it has that vibe of "old guy who has been around Democratic politics forever finding himself, late in his career, and for one day, the most important guy in the world, with everyone's hopes resting on him."
