Joe Biden's First Answer

First, I want to let everyone here in the hall and watching on TV know that if I refer to Paul Ryan here as "Mister" Ryan it isn't a show of disrespect. He serves in congress and normally you'd call him Congressman Ryan, but he is so embarrassed about the job he has done in Congress that he demanded that we sign a paper saying not to call him Congressman Ryan, but Mister Ryan instead... and that's his choice. Everyone ought to be called whatever name they choose. I'm the Vice President of the United States and I am not ashamed of that, so Mister Ryan can call me Vice President, or he can call he Joe... it's all the same to me.

Now, about your question...

On Edit: I am informed that the early reporting was incorrect, and that the "Call me Mister" agreement governs only the moderator, not Biden. But the OP is funny so I am leaving it.

The mister is for the moderator when she refers to him.

That's what I heard, anyway.

...not to the VP:

Correction: An earlier version of this post incorrectly identified VP Biden as bound by the agreement; it applies to Raddatz.

toward him by the moderator? You know the one not calling him by his rightful title?

Keep in mind, the GOP will later ignore/deny that Ryan insisted upon the mister.

The only rule that applies is the rule they decide applies.

forgetting saying....." and so on. Or, "Mr. Ryan, the congressman told us just last week that...." Joe should really do that. Emphasize how weird it is that he insists on being called Mr. He's too much of a punk to be called Mr. anyway.
