I call it throwing seeds under the snow, hoping some will sprout anyway. One voter at a time.

I went down to my local Y to swim about a couple of hours ago, and afterwards sat in the Hot Tub with a more than usual handsome life guard, and a more than usual overweight black woman in her early twenties. He was smiling, rose, said he was working for Virginia Foxx and had to go and get 50 yard signs and she was expecting him to place them by noon tomorrow.
I looked at him from behind my magazine and said "If you gave me a thousand dollars right now, guess what you would get for it?"
"What?"
"I would not put a sign in my yard, and even if you doubled the money I would not vote for her." I smiled.
He looked at me puzzled, and said " There are a lot of people who feel like you do."
"Good, the more the better. Go home and sleep til tomorrow at noon. OK!"
We laughed.

"Well", piped up the young woman, looking at his pretty behind as he walked away "he could put one in my yard anytime."

So I had to do the deed. I asked her to give me about 4-5 minutes of her time and if she was a voter. Yes. She said. I vote.

I do not have to tell you my DU friends what I told her in that small time frame. It involved a run-down of how important this was to her personal future, her country's future, and the well being of all American families. It involved a bit of history of V Foxx - her record - what to expect. And yes I included her standing as a laughing stock in the Congress of 535 people, and on the nightly news.

"Oh" said the young woman "I think I need to go and pay more attention to politics."
I saw she was really listening.

"Yes" said I "and I suggest you go home and start tonight. At 9 turn on the TV and look and listen to the debate between our Vice President Joe Biden, and a beady eyed weasel-y looking young man with a black V of hair over his forehead. The young one is running with Romney against Obama. He wants to change Social Security and seriously do away with a lot of Medicare, America would become a third world nation, and we are poor enough as things are now. He could be President if something happens to Romney should they get elected."

Big eyed she said yes, she would. I said that is Foxx with 2 Xes, remember that. Don't vote for her. Not the channel on TV. Watch CNN.
Yes, again, and she said she was going home to tell her mother and grandmother too.

Remember me in that voting booth, I said. Smiling.
Dripping.

Once you stimulate a person with a new thought, the ground is ready for new thinking the next time that idea appears around them.
I believe that, and so I have thrown seeds about lots of things for a long long time.
