lots and lots of Bourbon.

I'm only partially kidding, I usually do sip on a couple of Manhattans to take the edge off of a very nerve wracking night

It's a drink that been around awhile. I learned to like them in University when I worked as a bartender. I've always preferred the Bourbon variety because it's a little sweeter but Rye is pretty good too.

You can make it with either Bourbon or Rye and the general recipe is:

2 parts Bourbon/Rye
1 part Sweet Vermouth
Dash of Bitters
Shake over ice and pour into a martini glass with a cherry

A "perfect" Manhattan is:
2 parts Bourbon/Rye
1/2 part Sweet Vermouth
1/2 part Dry Vermouth
Dash of Bitters
Shake with ice as above.

Some people also replace the Bourbon/Rye with Blended Whiskey or Tennessee Whiskey

Vote in the early evening with my wife and then I take her out to eat. I might watch a bit of the early stuff, but as I am up very early, I will catch the outcome the next morning.

I vote early so that I can work on voter protection.

It helps the GOTV effort if you vote early. In Texas the party gets the voting information each day and we can use that to show who has voted early. That way we can concentrate on reliable democratic voters who have not yet voted.

Help get folks to the polls, or be a runner for the candidate to polling places which are reporting problems.

You'll be so busy, you won't know anything that is going on, except your focus.

catch up on missed episodes of shows I like, exercise, or play a video game. I do not watch the results as they come in anymore and I tell people who call me I don't want to know until the final tallies.

The worst for me though was when Reagan won. I was really young and could not believe America had elected Reagan as President of the United States. It was a sinking feeling I will never forget

I work the polls then go home and hit DU with the TV going in the background. This is going to be my third presidential election here at DU. It's usually DU at its best. Win or lose.

Then I watch a movie on election day and go to bed early.

The results I find out about when I get up the next day are the same results the people who stayed up all night get, except I didn't suffer the stress and I got a good night's sleep.

Four years ago, my mom threw a party at her house and we all watched the returns together. It was fun. This year? She's thinking of doing the same ... but if the election is REALLY close, it probably won't be called until the early morning hours, so, a party might not be the best bet.

Last year it rained like hell and was chilly, a little scary driving around on back roads but very fun at the same time. I finished up, flew home and watched the returns come in with hubby and celebrated like it was New Year's Eve
