Romney chastised woman for getting life-saving abortion

This happened sometime in the early 1990's, when Mitt was a newly ordained bishop of the LDS church.

So then Mitt came in to the hospital. X thought Mitt had come to be comforting because that’s what bishops do. They have a pastoral role. But she said that instead he was critical.

He said – What do you think you’re doing?

She said – Well, we have to abort the baby because I have these blood clots.

And he said something to the effect of – Well, why do you get off easy when other women have their babies?

And she said – What are you talking about? This is a life threatening situation.

And he said – Well what about the life of the baby?

And she said – I have four other children and I think it would be really irresponsible to continue the pregnancy.

X said she found herself arguing with Romney about her medical crisis, said he was very unsympathetic, very critical, and said that under the circumstances in no way did he condone her aborting the child. And he left.

I will as always remain skeptical of stories that are over a decade old, contain no first person material, and are based entirely on one anonymous person's side of things.

who had a little brother 2 years younger than us. He was CONSTANTLY fighting with his brother. I couldn't understand why. I'm an only child. What do I know? Anyway, one day he screamed out in the cafeteria to him, "You KILLED my Mommy!" Nuns, were FURIOUS over that. They took him to the Principal. We were then "lectured" that Timmy was wrong, and "blasphemous". His mother gave up her life to give life to his brother. She was a SAINT. Did his mother have a CHOICE???

As an Only Child, and not alone there either, I had a different perspective. I would want my own Mommy, over any brother and sister. I went home and told Mom what happened and she told me not to worry that she and daddy had no intentions of have any more children. She would not be dying in childbirth. She did keep her word on that one, against the Catholic Church teaching.

Would those 4 kids of that woman feel the same as this little boy?

I am a nurse. I work in a field where some of the life saving medications my patients take are also teratogenic. One patient, young, pregnant decided--after much thought and counseling--to terminate her pregnancy. Culturally and religiously, this was a horrible decision for her to make, but she understood the fetus was probably already damaged and she could not stop taking get medication--if she did it would threaten her own life.

Although this is not my field, I had the transporter wait outside while I held her hand until she was ready. She was not comfortable telling her family, thank God her partner was there and supportive. I held her as I would one of my own daughters as she cried--i cried with her-and got on the gurney. I let her take as long as she needed. I was there for her when she got back.

She is doing very well now, lovely and happy.

What if she had to hear that bullshit from a piece of shit like that? It makes me so furious.

before her fetus was viable, then they both would die. Isn't that true also?

It involves organ transplantation and I'm trying to be discrete as possible, but yes.

I wonder what Mitt thinks about this "pro-life" teabag Dr Scott DesJarlais who told his mistress to get an abortion? Would he chastise him as harshly? So far I haven't heard a word out of 'ol Willard about this clown, c'mon Mittens, there's some moral judgement casting to be done here!
