handily lose the next two debates after that, and I still expect a victory.
Debates never meant much.
Make sure you are clear in your social networking...you expect them to LOSE, and it won't change your vote.
I'm with THIS guy, Barack Obama. Yep, his middle name is Hussein.
At this point, it would take a dead girl, or a live boy, and then STILL I'd just be "considering" not voting for him.
(on edit: I fixed the typo in the title. It did say, "funble" instead of "fumble". It gets called out downthread, so I am including this explanation here)
titaniumsalute
(4,742 posts)Joe Biden didn't bumble and fumble in his debate with Sarah Palin. It was also declared that Biden won nearly every primary debate between the Dems in 2008. I think you are incorrect.
In addition, Obama won't lose the next two debates. It may be draws...but he won't repeat his screw up.
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)a God damned LSD trip, are you serious?
titaniumsalute
(4,742 posts)Whether someone bumbles and fumbles has nothing to do with who they are debating...one bumbles and "fundbles" (as you put it) on their own.
I think you're not the serious one here. Maybe lowering your own expectations in case it doesn't go well tonight. DId you post this same thing right before the first debate also?
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)the last debate has NOTHING to do with this one. Please don't conflate.
titaniumsalute
(4,742 posts)You want me to brand on social media that our guys will lose all of the debates but yet I will vote for them? That's like an advertising agency writing a commercial that says "our Product tastes like shit but people are sill buying it so it must be ok!"
I do agree with your other posts that the media may spin it but sorry. Not going to brand my candidate a debate loser by foreshadowing the outcomes now. I think that is not a good strategy.
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)YOUR words: You want me to brand on social media that our guys will lose all of the debates but yet I will vote for them? That's like an advertising agency writing a commercial that says "our Product tastes like shit but people are sill buying it so it must be ok!" <<<<<------------YOU have conflated an ad agency with a presidency. And were we to continue with this meme, NO FUCKING PART OF OBAMA'S PERFORMANCE "tasted like shit". Let's be clear right now that YOU were the one who injected that little fiasco, incorrect by any measure.
Please stop.
THIS ISN'T ABOUT DEBATES. this is about their *agenda*. What does MITT ROMNEY want to do with (to) our country? What is Obama's plan?
That has already been laid plain, regardless of the debate's outcome, which the media has absolutely no interest in a Biden victory because it won't give them the horse neck race they are seeking to ensure high ratings.
titaniumsalute
(4,742 posts)And no I won't stop.
Ok you win. I will go on Facebook right and declare my candidate will lose the rest of the debates because someone on DU told me so.
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)And maybe then you will be able to see that you're playing RIGHT into their hands, and you should damn well know it.
So keep saying, "Joe Biden is gonna MOP that stage with Lyin' Ryan's lying ass" and then when that doesn't happen, the other side declares vitcory. Just like it happened the first debate.
Of course, I really don't expect you to get it. Here is your hat, in fact, here are plenty of 'em...I expect you know what to do with 'em.
titaniumsalute
(4,742 posts)I never said Biden will mop any floors with Ryan. I'll analyze the actual debates for myself and not rely on people like you telling me if they will "win or lose" before hand.
Of course, I really don't expect you to get it.
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)You said you disagreed with me 100%, don't run from your own words now. Don't back pedal.
You're already handing the righties the meme they want; it sets up an IMPOSSIBLE standard for our vice president to achieve, but keeeeeeeeeeeep telling yourself *I* am the one doing the damage.

(10,291 posts)Romney has already gotten away with LYING HIS ASS OFF and they made that an Obama loss, so we need to start hammering that we are ENTHUSIASTICALLY in the Obama camp, even if Joe Biden fumbles and bumbles all over the place.

(45,319 posts)I note you say you'd consider not voting for Obama if he was caught with a 'live boy'. This makes me think you might think Biden's support for marriage equality was a 'bumble and fumble' when it was one of the most excellent things any politician has done in my lifetime.
I find your OP to be homophobic and your point of view against Biden to be informed by that attitude.
Do you refuse to vote for all candidates with same sex relationships?
LaydeeBug
(10,291 posts)I draw conclusions about you NOT thinking that would be a fumble and bumble? Geeeeeeeze
The "dead girl/live boy" is an old political meme, so maybe GOOGLE THE TERM before you feign outrage? This *IS* a political discussion board...it's a pretty old "tried and true" term.
But unreal that you REALLY THOUGHT dead girl would be okay, but 'live boy' is wholly offensive. Got it.
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)Let me spell this out to you. You said you'd consider not voting for a person found with a same sex partner, a 'live boy'. That is bigoted. The saying itself is bigoted, because it says that being found with a same sex partner is as bad as being found with the corpse you murdered. You echo that sentiment in your defense of your bigoted statement.
Why do you equate a gay relationship to murder? That is what you are doing.
The only question is why?

(1,435 posts)the facts are the facts, Ryan will lie about Obamacare, and be for private healthcare ( insurance co health care ) which is not for health care, but for profits at the expense of your health. Ryan to be loyal to his OATH to Grover Norquist not to raise taxes on rich.

(10,291 posts)Johnson and pleasure himself on TV, the corpo-media establishment IS GOING to label this a Lyin Ryan win, and if you don't know it, you should.
Biden is awesome. I love him. But they are going to make this a horse race for ratings, or to enable the theft, or a combo of both, one way or another, and it is time for us to frame that enthusiasm will NOT be curbed by how the corpo-media establishment spins tonight's debate.

You know they will. We need to let THEM know that Joe Biden could roller skate around that stage wearing a set of deely-bobbers on top of his head, and Romney has already told so many LIES that it won't matter. I am *still* voting Obama. These debates are nothing more than a show for me.

(5,051 posts)The chattering class needs a "horse race" to put asses in seats. It doesn't matter if its Morning Joke, Big Ego, or Sean Calamity. They all have products to sell for their respective advertisers and that depends on ratings. Did Rmoney "win" the first debate? Well, maybe not if telling the truth is something you expect from a US President. But that "horse race" narrative sure got folks tuning in to the TV Talking Heads!
Our time might be better spent working on our local Democratic ground game and getting out the vote instead of listening to these TV celebrities and then setting our collective hair on fire.
FORWARD!

(4,310 posts)than most because people are campaign weary. They turned off the
noise a while ago and started paying attention again during the conventions.
President Obama has had to be in campaign mode even during his first
term with the constant reminder rebukes single goal was to make him
a one term president. This is why the Romney campaign has been able to
use the etch a sketch strategy.
Biden is well known to seniors regardless of party affiliation. They trust him.
Ryan on the other hand is another unknown. Biden, who has been almost presidential
of late needs to expose Ryan and his policies. Biden needs to let anyone wavering
to know in no uncertain terms what Ryan is prepared to do to them economically.
To fear his lack of foreign policy experience.
I thought Biden was far to kind to Palin. When she asked to call him "Joe," he
should have said I prefer you not. If he gives Ryan an inch he will run with it.
He will lie and he will attempt to physically dominate the stage.
Biden knows all this. Romney's campaign has been throwing out comments
suggesting Ryan hasn't debated since high school, that this is his first real debate.
Don't believe it. The debates are all they have and Ryan will be a snake.

(14,566 posts)almost assuredly.
1) Ryan may actually "win" the debate on his own merits, at which time it will be a repeat of the Romney "win" hysteria.
2) Most likely, Ryan will somehow keep his head above water and will only be outshown a bit by Biden. This will be hailed a great victory for Ryan/Romney, and a bad news for dems who could not afford to just have Biden be better than Ryan. A win by losing.
3) Biden could lay the wood to Ryan. He will then be cast a bully and not knowing his place as a vice president. This is absolutely certain to happen because in the bizarro world that is US politics it is a GREAT win for Romney to bully his way through a debate, and it will be unseemly for Biden to fairly kick Ryan's boney arse.

(62,683 posts)AWAY WITH IT. So most of America, who probably only listen to their local news and don't follow politics like we do, didn't know he was lying and instead saw someone who appeared to be forcefully presenting his views and plans. He debated better, that's the bottom line. We know he's a liar and the anti-Obama crowd doesn't care, so that's what the "win" was based on, his out-debating Obama.

(111,305 posts)and that Obama is passive are only the initial ones. Once the pundits have had their say, people who listen tend to chew on what was said and how it was said and assign winner or loser status accordingly.
The pundits will give the win to Ryan tonight, they have to. Making this some kind of horse race is the only way they stay employed in such useless jobs.
Ryan will lie, dissemble, evade and snark like he always does. The real information will come from Biden, like it always does.
The lasting impression will likely be that Ryan is slick as snot on a doorknob but doesn't know what he's talking about and Biden is a doofus who does.
