Last edited Thu Oct 11, 2012, 12:12 PM - Edit history (1)

handily lose the next two debates after that, and I still expect a victory.

Debates never meant much.

Make sure you are clear in your social networking...you expect them to LOSE, and it won't change your vote.

I'm with THIS guy, Barack Obama. Yep, his middle name is Hussein.

At this point, it would take a dead girl, or a live boy, and then STILL I'd just be "considering" not voting for him.

(on edit: I fixed the typo in the title. It did say, "funble" instead of "fumble". It gets called out downthread, so I am including this explanation here)

The saying itself is bigoted, because it says that being found with a same sex partner is as bad as being found with the corpse you murdered. Why do you equate a gay relationship to murder? That is what you are doing.

The chattering class needs a "horse race" to put asses in seats. It doesn't matter if its Morning Joke, Big Ego, or Sean Calamity. They all have products to sell for their respective advertisers and that depends on ratings. Did Rmoney "win" the first debate? Well, maybe not if telling the truth is something you expect from a US President. But that "horse race" narrative sure got folks tuning in to the TV Talking Heads!

Our time might be better spent working on our local Democratic ground game and getting out the vote instead of listening to these TV celebrities and then setting our collective hair on fire.

than most because people are campaign weary. They turned off the
noise a while ago and started paying attention again during the conventions.
President Obama has had to be in campaign mode even during his first
term with the constant reminder rebukes single goal was to make him
a one term president. This is why the Romney campaign has been able to
use the etch a sketch strategy.

Biden is well known to seniors regardless of party affiliation. They trust him.
Ryan on the other hand is another unknown. Biden, who has been almost presidential
of late needs to expose Ryan and his policies. Biden needs to let anyone wavering
to know in no uncertain terms what Ryan is prepared to do to them economically.
To fear his lack of foreign policy experience.

I thought Biden was far to kind to Palin. When she asked to call him "Joe," he
should have said I prefer you not. If he gives Ryan an inch he will run with it.
He will lie and he will attempt to physically dominate the stage.

Biden knows all this. Romney's campaign has been throwing out comments
suggesting Ryan hasn't debated since high school, that this is his first real debate.
Don't believe it. The debates are all they have and Ryan will be a snake.

The Pres will adjust his style , I think.

And if any staffers are reading: For goodness sake PLEASE tell him to look Romney in the eye and to NOT LOOK DOWN.

so perhaps we should set an insurmountable standard for THEIR SIDE and not ours?

I repeat: I expect titanium Ryan to mop that stage with joe Biden's butt. Anything less than that CLEARLY shows the GOP in complete disarray.

50. Biden will "lose" tonight
Thu Oct 11, 2012, 04:02 PM
Oct 2012

almost assuredly.

1) Ryan may actually "win" the debate on his own merits, at which time it will be a repeat of the Romney "win" hysteria.
2) Most likely, Ryan will somehow keep his head above water and will only be outshown a bit by Biden. This will be hailed a great victory for Ryan/Romney, and a bad news for dems who could not afford to just have Biden be better than Ryan. A win by losing.
3) Biden could lay the wood to Ryan. He will then be cast a bully and not knowing his place as a vice president. This is absolutely certain to happen because in the bizarro world that is US politics it is a GREAT win for Romney to bully his way through a debate, and it will be unseemly for Biden to fairly kick Ryan's boney arse.

AWAY WITH IT. So most of America, who probably only listen to their local news and don't follow politics like we do, didn't know he was lying and instead saw someone who appeared to be forcefully presenting his views and plans. He debated better, that's the bottom line. We know he's a liar and the anti-Obama crowd doesn't care, so that's what the "win" was based on, his out-debating Obama.

56. The impressions that Biden is bumbling

and that Obama is passive are only the initial ones. Once the pundits have had their say, people who listen tend to chew on what was said and how it was said and assign winner or loser status accordingly.

The pundits will give the win to Ryan tonight, they have to. Making this some kind of horse race is the only way they stay employed in such useless jobs.

Ryan will lie, dissemble, evade and snark like he always does. The real information will come from Biden, like it always does.

The lasting impression will likely be that Ryan is slick as snot on a doorknob but doesn't know what he's talking about and Biden is a doofus who does.

In addition, he can be snarky and get away with it.

He is a smart cookie and crazy as a fox, and I expect he will handily win tonight.

He actually held back in his debate with Palin, because of the weird double standard of not being mean to a woman/being a gentleman. He won't have that hampering him tonight.

I really, really hope he makes a snarky marathon time crack.
