Honesty is important.

Even more important than who wins a debate.

Dishonesty should not be rewarded in politics. No matter if the dishonest person is the best debater in the world, with passionate lies that would make a nun blush, there is no place in politics or in journalism for lies intended solely for manipulation. And under no circumstances should anyone be declared a winner of anything if he has to lie to finish ahead, unless of course, it is a lying contest.

This is not a lying contest. It is serious business. People's lives depend on the results of their votes. Journalists should attempt to inform them as best they can. It is not a matter of "he said- she said". It is a matter of facts. Reporters should try to report more on facts and substance and less on style and falsehoods.

Romney clearly out-lied the president in the debate, so it was unjust for our media to consider him the winner, especially considering that Obama made no huge gaffes. Sure, it wasn't one of his best performances, but he didn't really say anything stupid or blatantly false like his flip-floppy challenger.
