Florida Dems asking Dems to vote absentee ballot, but walk them in.

I completely concur. I called to ask about the procedure. When the envelopes come in they check the signatures and if they pass, the envelope gets placed in a box and put in a vault. Then six days before the election they come out and are reviewed by elections officers.

Let me tell you, in years past, like during the Gore v. Bush fiasco, I recognized one of these elections officers as a primo good ole boy--Very politically connected to the GOP. I think it's best to make sure you walk them in within that last week to cut down on lag time, sitting around in a vault. What does everybody else think? Here's the article

Democrats urging people to vote absentee – in person

Unofficially, early voting has already begun in Florida – and the Obama For America campaign is encouraging supporters to take advantage and vote now.

With the start of absentee voting last week, Florida law allows a voter to walk into any county Supervisor of Elections office, request an absentee ballot, fill it out (though some counties may require the voter to do so outside the building) and turn it in.

The process is called "in-office absentee voting," and Democrats are talking it up.

"We're encouraging everyone to go out and vote for President Obama, and not wait until Election Day," Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said Wednesday at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office, as Obama for America rolled out its "Vote Now!" effort

counted by the ES&S corporation. I would not vote absentee, nor early in my county. I prefer live poll workers receiving my ballot at the precinct.

in other words I agree. but even more so. I wouldnt vote absentee at all. unless you are really out of your state and have to.

But at what point are absentee votes tallied with those votes from Election Day? I'd hate to think all those absentee votes are only hauled out to be counted because of a tie.

I live in a red county so they will be counted, starting about a week before election day--because military votes generally go Republican.

encourages people to 1) vote by mail or 2) vote early. The general belief is that the 11 amendments on the ballot will really slow things down on election day. We have not said anything about walking ballots in- at least I haven't in my contacts. I'll bring the subject up when I go in to the office on Friday.
