Ok, what is the very best way to defend against a flip-flopper

in a debate?

And, do people really care? It almost strikes me that if your guy says both...I support the right for women to chose and I would support overturning Roe vs. Wade, and you were for the latter or the former, it is better than being stridently on one side or the other (because you feel hope he will go back to the other idea). I think it's his strategy. All sides have heard their position at least once.

I know it calls his character into question, but will people be all aghast as he is exposed more for changing positions? Or will they care? Now here, I am talking about the low-info people or undecideds.

And, how do you defend against it? Do you think Obama should memorize dates and sources for various subjects? I wonder if this will work - Romney will just deny, so it seems like Obama would need sources/dates???

A little remark here and there, but too much of that makes him seem defensive and takes time away from talking about himself.

address the American people.

I think it is a waste of his time to counter what Romney says in depth. I think he should articulate why Romney is wrong in quick and short jabs, and then discuss his own platform. He needs to be on the offensive.

Go around Romney, as if he's some worthless fool who is not even worth responding to.

Talk with the American people, because Lord knows--trying to have a meaningful conversation with a man who denies his own longstanding policies--is a waste of time.

Treat Romney like the waste of time that he is. Go around him--while he's standing in front of you.

Then nod your head in disbelief and disapproval.

Obama has to use memorable lines that will paint the narrative that Romney is someone no one can really trust at his core. If he doesn't do that and simply ignores the flip flopping thing, Romney will appear moderate, hence he will appear presidential.
