My grandfather switched parties because of FDR's New Deal, and that has made all the difference. I am so proud of our Democratic tradition!

They idolized him, as did most of the country at the time.

Just put that clip on television, with a blurb at the end "I'm Barack Obama, and I AGREE with this PROGRESSIVE message."?

EVERYONE would get it. Even the idiot Freepers. (and then all their empty heads would explode, and they would call it a dirty trick, and an attack ad, and a vicious lie.)
And the Romney Campaign would do EXACTLY what FDR accused them of doing 76 years ago....
"OF COURSE I like poor people. OF COURSE I'm Pro-choice. OF COURSE I believe in a Peace Process for Palestine and Israel. OF COURSE I won't raise taxes on the working people, to benefit the rich."
and on, and on, and on...

The idea of the greater good....and supporting that vision.

And in doing so, we all benefit, from the poorest of the poor to the most wealthy in our society.

It's a big picture vision of what is good and what is right. FDR was truly an enlightened soul.
