It has a chilling effect on what employees talk about. They might get "ratted out." reformist2 Oct 2012 #7
That's not really what he said, he said if Romney doesn't win, hughee99 Oct 2012 #9

he is also building a 90,000 square foot house in florida modeled after versaiiles. personally I wouldnt shed a tear if some union contruction workers gummed up the construction so it took much longer and was much more costly

"The economy doesn't currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration,"

"If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company," he says in the nearly 1,400-word e-mail. "Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone."

I've heard of many large corporations where employees are sent letters or e-mails from the CEO, basically telling them who they ought to vote for. Obviously they can't fire people based on who they vote for, but it has a chilling effect on free speech in the workplace... except for the executives, of course.

It's basically a power-play, and true psychological intimidation.

they could be out of a job. They could ALL vote for Romney, and if he loses anyway, they might be out of a job.

So their boss is talking about putting them out of work because he's an asshole, and other people are talking about boycotting this asshole's businesses, which if successful, would also put some of them out of work. It sounds like the workers are screwed either way, I wish them all the luck in the world.
