UPDATE: Cong Scott DesJarlais cheats on wife, knocks up mistress, pushes her to abort. Pro-Life, eh?

Last edited Wed Oct 10, 2012, 03:39 PM - Edit history (9)

And the beauty of it all? The idiot got caught because HE made a tape of his conversation with the mistress.

Just to make sure you have the high points: Pro-Life, Pro-Family, won't let gays get married because they will sully the good name of straight marriage, and the guy is a medical Dr.

He is so pro-family that he was cheating on his wife with a patient...without using condoms (which means his wife, whom he respects more than anything) is being exposed to any disease this Dr is dragging his wiener through.

He is such an honorable Congressman that he is breaking his medical oath and probably the law by doinking his female patient/(s?) (without a rubber) and knocking them up. He admitted in his divorce that he had committed adultery with three other women.

He is so pro-life that he pushed his mistress (at least this one) into getting an abortion.

Ah, yes, welcome to Republican America where men like Congressman Scott DesJarlais, are in charge of OUR moral compass.

Unsafe sex, adultery, lying, bullying, abortion, law-breaking, oath-breaking...welcome to 21st Century Republicanism.

Oh, and he's blamed the Democrat for playing dirty politics...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/10/scott-desjarlais-abortion-pro-life_n_1953136.html

WASHINGTON -- A pro-life, family-values congressman who worked as a doctor before winning election as a Tea Party-backed Republican had an affair with a patient and later pressured her to get an abortion, according to a phone call transcript obtained by The Huffington Post.

The congressman, Rep. Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee, was trying to save his marriage at the time, according to his remarks on the call, made in September of 2000. And, according to three independent sources familiar with the call and the recording, he made the tape himself.

DesJarlais, who was provided a copy of the transcript by HuffPost, did not deny its contents, but in a statement released through his campaign characterized it as just another sordid detail dredged up by the opposition. "Desperate personal attacks do not solve our nation's problems, yet it appears my opponents are choosing to once again engage in the same gutter politics that CBS news called the dirtiest in the nation just 2 years ago."

Update: Gawker is now sharing some of the transcript of the tape: They go back and forth for a bit, with the woman complaining that DesJarlais is being unfair and she wants to end their relationship for good. "Well, I didn't want to be in your life either, but you lied to me about something that caused us to be in this situation, and that's not my fault, that's yours," he says.

"Well, it's [your] fault for sleeping with your patient," she rejoins.

The divorce was eventually finalized the following year, and court documents show DesJarlais confessed to having four extramarital affairs." http://gawker.com/5950582/secretly-recorded-phone-call-reveals-pro+life-congressman-pressured-mistress-to-get-abortion

UPDATE: THE LOCAL NEWS IS FINALLY STARTING TO CARRY THE STORY! Could this October surprise help us to win a blue seat in Congress? The man up against him is a current Dem State Rep. WBIR, Knoxville is now carrying the story on their top news on the front page. The Boston Herald has picked up the story as has the Washington Post. http://www.wbir.com/news/article/237896/2/DesJarlais-discussed-abortion-with-patient-transcript-says

That is what is awful. If it is that easy for a republican to get elected in that part of the country, you would think they would have a lot of really good conservatives running. I'm not against conservatives winning sometimes, balance is good in many ways, but there should be a standard of behavior and honesty that all districts respect.

At least seven instances were identified in which Jacobson was the biological father of the patients' children, including one patient who was supposed to have been inseminated with sperm provided by her husband. DNA tests linked Jacobson to at least 15 such children, and it has been suspected that he fathered as many as 75 children by impregnating patients with his own sperm.[3]

I guess using your own sperm to impregnate your patients isn't illegal in Utah. He was sentenced to five years and had his license revoked for perjury, mail and wire fraud.

He can tell the TN conservative voters outright that he is going to take all their money and give it to the wealthy, that he is going to work hard to keep wages really low in TN and that he hopes all our kids get sent to another bloody war, but as long as he says "Jesus," the Tennessean conservative voter will pick him. Otherwise, they might not get into heaven, you know?

It really is that bad here. It's a state chock full of Low Information Voters who do what the preacher tells them, their own childrens' lives be damned.

It's really frustrating, because TN has a lot going for it.

But the voters can't get past their prejudices and ignorance and their belief that Jesus is a Teabagger who hates poor people.

Thanks for the support! And the thread!

ran ads talking about him pulling a gun on his wife, etc. But the voters here didn't care.

Obama was gonna take their guns so they thought DesJarlais would counter it and "send a message."

So they sent a serial adulterer to Congress, part of the cabal who refused to help Obama do ANYTHING positive for the people of Tennessee.

No linky, but the ads and articles are out there. I am on dialup and have to leave DU for a bit.

http://www.rollcall.com/issues/56_25/-49880-1.html

In a motion filed in November 2000, Susan DesJarlais sought to obtain sole possession of the couple’s home and claimed she was forced to leave the residence when her husband’s behavior “became violent and threatening.”

In that document, Susan DesJarlais accused her former husband of “dry firing a gun outside the Plaintiff’s locked bedroom door, admission of suicidal ideation, holding a gun in his mouth for three hours, an incident of physical intimidation at the hospital; and previous threatening behavior ... i.e. shoving, tripping, pushing down, etc.”

In another court document from February 2001, Susan DesJarlais asked that her husband’s visitation rights with their child be limited after he allegedly showed up at her apartment complex on Valentine’s Day and began harassing her to the point that she called the police.

snip

His ex-wife was not the victim according to TN REpublicans; poor little helpess DesJarlais was the REAL victim. They elected him because I guess wife abusers and serial adulterers are the stuff good politicians are made of.

I can't stop singing.... Scotty's new campaign tune:

"Jesus is just alright with me...he let's me commit adultery.....Yeah I got an R next to my name....that means me and Gawd are just the same...."

He's all: "Oh, you're making it PERSONAL! Now, that's not gonna solve our nation's problems!"

But somehow he and the rest of the Congressional Republicans can get all up in OUR personal business and they swear it's vital that they do so!

Guys like DesJarLAID can have any morality that suits their desire, because their sexual deviance is irrelevant. But the voter can't even expect legal access to birth control - a very personal decision - because that same guy gets to decide for me whether I can use it or not based on HIS MORALITY. And this is somehow going to save the nation!

How many hundreds of bills were introduced about abortion, birth control and female reproductive rights this year? You voted for them, DesJarLAID. And how many of those solved our nation's problems?

FUCK YOU DesJarLAID.

If you had kept your cheating hands off your patients, and had kept your twisted, sick, abusive morality out of MY UTERUS, you wouldn't be in the hot seat right now. You made the bed.....

But just keep singing....

"Jesus is just allright with me, vote for me, oh please vote for me.
Do what I want, don't feel no shame,
Cuz I got a R next to my name

Yeah, Jesus is just allright wif me....

.wonder if Sarah will sleep with me..."

Oct 2012
http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/oct/11/desjarlais-scandal-chattanooga-times-opinion/

"Washington is notorious for its sanctimonious, philandering hypocrites, but few fall into that category with more chutzpah than Tennessee's 4th District congressman, Scott DesJarlais.

A practicing physician at the time, DesJarlais defeated incumbent Democratic Rep. Lincoln Davis in 2010 on an anti-abortion, family-values, Tea Party-backed campaign in a newly gerrymandered district. Now it's clear his righteous persona was a blatant charade. As his marriage was disintegrating in 2000, he was urging his mistress — whom he met as a patient for a foot problem — to have an abortion, according to a conversation with her that DesJarlais' former wife said he himself taped
...

The question now is whether the revelation of DesJarlais' affairs and his pressure on his mistress then to seek an abortion will alter the course of the current campaign. Given Wednesday's disclosure, it would be an embarrassment to the 4th District to return the deceitful, unethical, philandering physician. If 4th District voters value honesty and upstanding character, they will vote him out of office and install Sen. Stewart, an insurance agent with a decent reputation"

And DesJarlais DOES NOT CARE about the military, the elderly, farmers or the constituents of the 4th district:

http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/oct/05/stewart-desjarlais-neglects-districts-farmers/?breakingnews

"And DesJarlais, who is from Jasper, Tenn., created a stir Friday during the pro forma session when he silenced two Democratic House members who wanted to complain about a “do-nothing Congress” and inaction on a major farm bill, The National Journal reported.

Presiding over the session, DesJarlais slammed his gavel, a sign to shut off the C-SPAN signal. That prompted protests from Democrats and shouts about the nation’s “fiscal cliff” and the farm bill, the publication reported.

Stewart charged in a news release that DesJarlais “betrayed” Tennessee farmers this spring by voting to cut $60 billion from the Department of Agriculture, showing he isn’t interested in agricultural issues.

He said DesJarlais went to Washington “because he doesn’t want to listen to the concerns from people in his district that are not happy about his votes to raise the Social Security retirement age to 70 and his votes against giving our military a pay raise.” "

He's just a class act all the way around. Can't keep his pants zipped up, has NO FAMILY VALUES, and does ALL HE CAN to make life harder for Tennesseans! Yay us! Our Republican TN voters should be so proud of this guy!

Sat Oct 13, 2012, 08:41 AM
Oct 2012

I can only think of two who were more about the money. The ones who seem that way are that way because of pressures from the partners or business owners about billable hours. They still do everything they can with each patient, but the pressure to turn a level 2 visit into a level 3 or 4 or to fit three level 2s into a short time slot is crazy these days. If they see too many Medicare patients, they won't pay their bills if they spend too long on each, and Medicare reimburses at such a low rate that they can't afford to see very many Medicare patients, if any.

As for thinking they're better, yeah, that's amazingly common. It's partly the fault of the training process, but a lot of it is who even wants to be a doctor in the first place.

Some are rotten, though. Too damn many, and too damn many others know and won't do anything about it. They don't police themselves well.

That includes my own personal one right now. She goes the extra mile or ten for her patients. One time I had this medicine that another practitioner had prescribed for me that ran out because both that practitioner and the mail order pharmacy had screwed things up. I couldn't get a hole of that practitioner so I called my regular doctor on a Saturday night. I was almost in tears when I called because it's the kind of medicine that abruptly stopping makes me pretty sick when I called, she was very understanding and within an hour had a prescription waiting for me at Walgreens.

134. When we tell the indisputable truth about republicans, they call it "desperate personal attacks".
Thu Oct 11, 2012, 12:49 PM
Oct 2012

The reason for this is because, almost universally, republicans are all unevolved hypocrites and have undeveloped consciences. Hypocrisy, lying, and corruption is the norm for them.

DesJarlais does not understand how what he did could be viewed as unethical or immoral, and he is angry Democrats for pointing out that his behavior is contemptible, but he personally believes that he did nothing unethical. At the same time, he is angry that he got caught, because he is aware that society in general considers this type of behavior unethical.

For a republican, the crime is never stealing, cheating, lying, murder, fraud, hypocrisy, adultery, etc. For them, in their own minds and the minds of other republicans, the only real crime is getting caught and exposed.

"If the Republicans will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them".
Adlai E. Stevenson
