I Voted Today!!!

Mailed in my absentee ballot this morning. It was a bittersweet moment for me. Sweet because I voted for ALMOST a straight Democratic ticket (there were a couple of Republican judges I know and like, and know to be quality judges, who I voted to keep). Bitter because the Republican State Senator I was seriously considering running against about a year ago ran unopposed. I'm sure I would have gotten my clock cleaned and lost handily, but I would have at least been on the ballot in a year where there is some pretty heavy anti-Republican sentiment. Oh well, live and learn.

For the record, what got me seriously considering an attempt to unseat this guy was the whole Senate Bill 5/Issue 2 crap going on in Ohio a while back (K-Suck's union-busting bill). I was so angry that 80% of Ohioans disapproved of the bill, yet the Republican legislature forced it through anyway, that I was ready to make a run at my State Senate seat. Then this particular State Senator, who is a "labor-friendly" Republican went and took all the wind out of my sails by voting No on SB 5 (I expected him to vote the Party line and vote Yes). Then I kind of lost momentum and the will to do it. I don't know that I would have made a good candidate or a good public servant, but it did make me a little upset to see that the seat I was considering running for was being won uncontested. Maybe next time.

Oh, and by the way, even though he was running unopposed, I couldn't bear to fill in the circle next to his name, so I just abstained on that one race.
