Restaurant Bashes Customer On Facebook And Twitter for not leaving a tip and giving a bad review

The woman, "Stephanie S." allegedly didn't leave her waitress a tip on a $40 tab at Boners BBQ. The restaurant Tweeted "NOT WANTED!" with a link to its Facebook page, where they had posted the woman's photo, along with a warning to other eateries: "If you see this women [sic] in your restaurant tell her to go out side and play hide an go f*** yourself! Yelp that b****."

Andrew Capron, one of the restaurant's current owners, posted below the photo: "forgot to mention the b***** cleaned her plate ... every last drop!" and "Yeah, beauty eh?"

"Put a Little South in Your Mouth," is the restaurant's slogan. But perhaps it needs to wash that mouth out with soap. Someone posted the story to Reddit, and a woman claiming to be the "b*****" in question chimed in, claiming that she did indeed leave a tip, dropping a $10-off Scoutmob coupon, along with two twenties. That's a $7.20 tip on a $32.80 (with tax) bill.

Turns out, "Stephanie S." had written a lukewarm review of Boners BBQ on Jan. 8. She called the deep fried collard greens "greasy and limp," the mac and cheese "ok," the chicken "dry," the pulled pork "bland," and the peach cobbler "bitter/sour." But it was mostly thoughtful and constructive criticism, with positive reviews of the Brunswick stew and baked beans, and an ultimate rating of two stars.

I guess leaving fake 5 star reviews is not working so now companies feel the need to personally attack honest reviewers now.

She had no idea what ELSE "boner" meant. So, she'd just blurt out something about "Dr Boner" without a hint of irony or a pause.

How did people make such colossal mistakes before the internet? I foresee a rather quick shuttering for Boner's Barbecue.

Regardless of what Stephanie S. did or did not do, any restaurant that treats customers (or more likely, former customers) like this is going to find itself with lots of empty tables for as long as they can keep the doors open. Would you want to go to a place that might take you to task like this over a real or imagined slight? None for me, thanks.

Bad business.

BTW, Yelp is a pretty good source for unbiased reviews on the ATL dining scene. I've done quite a few myself. Reviews from Chefs and foodies seem to counter the fake reviews by the restaurateurs friends and families.

That way the wait staff doesn't get docked for doing service for a higher value menu and not getting tipped appropriately for it. Also, tax is separate from the tip calculation. Tip of $7.20 was in the ballpark however if service was adequate.

Was the service really that bad? If her review was "lukewarm" as they say, then that should be good enough for the standard 15% tip.

I don't know what's really going on here, but I know from my own experiences in the service industry that there are customers that are more trouble than they are worth and some are clearly horrible people. I'm not saying I believe the restaurant, just that it's plausible.....

This is not a two way street. If you're the restaurant, you want to attract customers, not let them know that non-glowing reviews will be avenged.
