I haven't seen this outside of this site, but there was a link provided

Seems pretty hard, likely wipes mine out.
Edit: Who the Hell agreed to that 'compromise'?

(7,641 posts)if you have a federal student loan for example, they wont take the stimulus money to pay it unless you are already defaulting on it.

(1,261 posts)But from what I understood, this is new wrinkle for the next (and likely last) round of 'stimulus' checks.

(7,881 posts)If you got the recent $600 stimulus, you will probably get the next stimulus. It says the people that have the problem are the ones that have not received their stimulus for whatever reason and instead have to file a tax return and claim a credit to receive theirs. Because any potential tax refunds of theirs are already being held up due to other reasons, their stimulus (that they had to claim via tax credit) would also be potentially held up and put towards their governmental debts; therefore, if you have already successfully gotten your other two stimulus payments, you should get the potential third stimulus payment of $1,400 as well.

(3,243 posts)...the point of stimulus money would be to 'stimulate' the economy, not punish...
...'stimulating' money remaining in government coffers is not very stimulating...
...call me old-fashioned but wouldn't the more money thrown out here to more people who need it regardless, the more 'stimulated' things would become?
...I know I'm willing to do my stimulating part...
