(65,502 posts)Apparently Mitt was in the process of getting down to the floor for a picture with the group of kids, and the little girl was all excited that the famous presidential candidate was going to be right there in front of her as the picture was taken.
I detest Romney, but I have to admit that, funny as it is, this photo is not really fair. I would hate to see Obama similarly victimized by a photo that presented such a false view of what was going on.
On the other hand, I just cannot stop ROFLMAO.
tblue37
(65,502 posts)finally got down into the crouch for the photo.
The little girl from the original pic is shown in this one, too, but here we can see she was just very excited about being in a picture with a famous person/presidential candidate.
Duty to fairness completed. Carry on.
On edit: The actual story makes me feel a bit guilty. He turned his motorcade around for an impromptu visit with some little schoolkids who were waving at his motorcade as it drove by, and that is why they were so excited.
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/associated-press-publishes-odd-photo-of-romney/
The article quotes from an ABC story:
FAIRFIELD, Va. Mitt Romney ordered his motorcade to make an abrupt U-turn in rural Virginia today, after zipping by a group of elementary school students waving in the front yard of the school, so he could go back and meet them.
It was the candidates decision to make the impromptu stop, an aide said, Romney standing beside Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell as a group of roughly 100 squealing students, who had since retreated inside Fairfield Elementary School, were promptly marched back outside of the school house by an advance staffer.
Thanks for waving at me as I came by, I decided to come by and say hi to you guys, Romney told the kids, many of whom were fourth- and fifth-graders.
(Sigh. I hate having scruples. I need a scruple driver so I can take them out and enjoy such moments without guilt.)

(3,667 posts)And that's an order. I can hear the staffer say that they need the photo op. You do know if that had been President Obama the kids would have been throwing themselves at him for hugs.
tblue37
(65,502 posts)excited, not being forced to go out to see him. Also, he stopped because they had been waving as his motorcade passed by.
It was in a rural area, and those kids' parents might be Republicans who talk up Romney around them, so the kids might well have been more than glad to meet the man their parents were talking about.
When I was a 10-year-old child in 1960, my Republican parents had me bragging about Richard Nixon to my friends. If I'd had a chance to meet Nixon back then, I would have been squealing with excitement, too.
But even if I had not been indoctrinated by my parents, I would have been excited to meet a famous man that was on TV and that everyone was talking about all the time, one who might even become president of the US.

McCain and his tongue sticking out after the debate - and now this.
These things just don't happen to Obama. If he were there, he'd be talking to those kids, so I guess that's why
