The Ohio Democratic Party on Monday formally requested that the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio launch an investigation of Murray Energy, which has been accused of forcing its employees to make political contributions to Republican candidates.

“I write to formally request a criminal investigation concerning a recent report suggesting the Murray Energy Corporation, its subsidiaries, and management (“Murray Energy”) may have engaged in a pattern of illegal activity, extorting millions in financial contributions from employees and vendors for Republican candidates running for public office,” Ohio Democratic Party chairman Chris Redfern wrote to U.S. Attorney Steven Dettelbach.

I've been to these fundraisers. Employees are told how much they are expected to donate and are expected to show up for these dinners.

like that on a local level. She was forced to take her mentally challenge clients to a lunchon her supervisors claimed was free to them but my wife found out the office "donated" the clients money to the candidate.

But I've been the date at many a Murray dinner--both as moral support and out of morbid curiosity. Believe me, none of Murray's salaried employees get out of these dinners if they want to keep their jobs. They go, they donate, and they applaud politely.

One thing I have gotten out of these dinners, though, is an up-close look at many Republicans, which has left me with distinct impressions of many of them. Rand Paul is about as tall as a coffee table and dumb as a rock. Santorum is a surprisingly good speaker. George Allen is dumber than Rand Paul--a big doufus. Chuck Hagel was really impressive and the only speaker I remember saying anything that wasn't Murray-approved "Coal good. Obama bad. Global warming liberal conspiracy."

I'm very good at sitting politely with a bland smile on my face. On the way home, we go over the lies in the speeches.

This has been going on since 2007. Propaganda sent alongside paychecks. Secretaries told to call employees and tell them not to vote for Obama. The list goes on and on, and this is in Utah, the reddest state in the nation. Their is even a 20 foot long banner at the entrance of his West ridge mine that reads "Fire Obama, save Utah.", not to mention a continuous loop of the Romney Ohio spot being played on a TV in the miners bath house. Lest we forget this Corporations past transgressions (Crandall Canyon) though, THAT is what makes this relationship all the more sinister. Here is a song I released. Please share with whoever will care.

Not even coming up for air.

I don't think the a-hole ever spent a day down in the mines working.

I hate exploiters.

That mine should be unionized and controlled by the unions, not Murray Energy.

Murray better pay the workers a living wage, and stop inserting politics into it, or they'll be paying for a hefty price on what could be the cost of being a third party business.
