I'm not sure who knows about this, but I thought I'd share. I got one last go-round, which I proudly display in my home.
You can go to House.gov, and find your Representative. Go to their homepage.
Locate the "American Flag" request area.
Request a flag, and request it be flown over the US Capitol on 01/31/2013.
You can personalize the certificate of authenticity.
They are generally under $30.00.
About two weeks after President Obama's first inauguration, I received my flag and certificate verifying it was flown over the Capitol on the date of his first inauguration.
Pretty darn sweet.
Oh, and this year, there will be two ceremonies, which doubles the amount of flags that can be flown.
If you are confident in President Obama's reelection, and get your request in soon enough, you may be the lucky recipient (as I was) of the ultimate souvenir.
Good luck!

(47,675 posts)The first one is in safe keeping in its original triangle fold. He fought in WW-II. The flag is 30 years old now.
The second is worn and tattered and mounted upside down. It went out originally on 9-11 2001 new and upright and turned upside down when the shrub stole the 2004 election. If rMoney steals this one, it will be back out. The normal flag is in good shape and right-side up. It will be flying the day after the election. It's sad to say, but almost every flag I've seen for sale in the past 8 years has been made in China. Mine are all US made, as they should be. One of them even had the star field on the wrong stripe!!! The only places I've found US made flags in recent years are K-Mart and Agway. It's depressing. I need an American made beer now - maybe two or three.

(47,675 posts)Talk about adding insult to injury (death in this case). Those silly lapel pins are all made in China too. So are the damn ribbon magnets on the SUVs. Isn't anything sacred anymore?
And yes, I have a Coexist bumper sticker - and mine is US made. I wonder if they still are.
