Hi, my name is Gene, I'm not sure if this fits in this forum, but here goes.
Is our Government sitting on their hands or what? Gas prices in Ca. went up to $6.00 a gal., that really sucks, and if you think about it, that will reach the rest of the U.S. All because they broke an oil line? who the hell's problem is that? Certainly not the consumer. It seems every time these oil Co.'s have a PROBLEM, THEY SAY, LETS SOCK IT TO THE CONSUMERS. Have you ever heard of an oil Co. paying for your gas line when it broke? I say let them repair their own problem as we have to. I have not heard anything about any politician stepping up and speak for the consumer. Maybe the Kick-back is too great. But if someone does not step up to these oil Co.'s they will surely keep on crapping on us

It's 4.65 here (OC). And I'd heard it had gone up to $5.00. But I haven't seen it above the $4.65 that it is here.

Btw, I agree that we, the consumers, should not have to suck up the costs of the oil company's problems. It was more than just a broken line, though. A refinery fire at another plant helped to create the shortage. Doesn't matter, though. It still shouldn't costs us. (If it helps any, I've heard that the price increases should only last a few weeks.)

Said report showed that the oil companies closed refineries in order to keep gas prices artificially high. That is why these disruptions have such a impact: the capacity of the supply chain has been limited.
